I wanted a fountain pen to write a very fine line with waterproof ink for sketching and journaling. I now have 50+ pens of all shapes and nib types inked up. My carbon desk pen is still my favorite and most reliable for sketching and jotting notes. The line is smooth and fine. This pen never skips, blobs, or dry starts even when it hasn't been used in a few weeks. It also doesn't clog with waterproof Carbon ink in it. It lives up to all the rave reviews I read about it.

This is a very nice looking fountain pen and has a hand friendly feel to it.
This fountain pen is a nice alternative to a glass dip pen when using a thicker ink and/or a permanent ink.

I ordered the medium nib on my Platinum Carbon ink pen. It writes the same as a Western fine and that is what I like. I also have a Carbon pen with the fine nib that writes like an American extra-fine. Both pens feed the Carbon black ink to the nibs with no problems at all. I am pleased with these pens.

Weird-looking pen, for sure, and it’s not going to fit in most of my pen cases. But I don’t care. It’s comfortable to hold and writes like butter. The carbon ink is fully waterproof when dry, and its gorgeous black color looks absolutely fabulous on sketches, watercolors, and even hard-to-write-on papers. I use it all the time. Thanks for carrying this awesome art tool, Pen Chalet!

Light weight, writes beautifully and great for drawing. The cartridges come in handy for carrying in my art Field Kit.

My first use of carbon ink (by Platinum)was in their PLATINUM CFTR-250C brush pen. The pen is ~$4 and refillable so I couldn't resist. Though it says brush, the tip is felt which didn't take long to become clogged with the pigment in the ink. It took 20 days of tip soaking and refreshing a weak ammonia solution to clear the feed and felt. (12% by vol.)
I liked Platinum Carbon Ink's feel, varied surface adhesions, and water resistance so purchased a bottle. I used it in a Pilot Metropolitan fine tip and a Platinum Preppy 0.5 tip. Both started stalling within a week.
I then discovered Platinum made a fountain pen for the ink. I bought the medium tip unit and have used it for two weeks with no stalling nor clogging. I store it with the nib slanted downward in a pint cottage cheese container.
IT IS MY GOTO PEN for black ink work.
The ratings on #2 are based on 3 weeks of using the pen.
