I have used fountain pens since the first grade. My first fountain pen was a Pelikan — my signature fountain pen. Decades and many fountain pens later, I found the Monteverde Essenza, both the Early Dawn and Sunny Skies models. I love everything about this pen, from the smooth stainless steel nib to the faceted barrel and cap. The pen is small with solid weight and is ideal for my small hands. Black Waterman ink for Early Dawn and Caroub de Chypre ink for Sunny Skies. I have scored a pair of gems and am jolly writer. Wrapping up my modest thoughts on this pen, I have nothing but praise for Pen Chalet’s prices and service. Good show.

I have just ordered my 3rd Monteverde Essenza! It is a fantastic pen. I ordered 3 extra fine and the nibs are the best. I ordered Sunny Skies, loved it and then ordered the Early Dawn. Then ordered another Sunny Skies. The pens are very classy and easy to write with. I am going to try not to buy a 4th.

I bought this pen in the Sunny Skies finish and it is gorgeous! I didn't know if I would care for the finishing and would like it even better if the metal wasn't quite so bulky. But overall it's a stunning pen and writes great. So glad I bought it!

A beautiful pen, made of nice materials and very well crafted. This thing could sell for three times the price just based on looks. But unfortunately, like my Monteverde Giant Sequoia pen, the tines on the broad nib were misaligned. And again, once this was fixed it is a very nice writer, and I'm very glad I bought it. Note that my ratings are AFTER I realigned the nib tines and performed a bit of smoothing.

I bought this pen based on a recommendation from PenBoyRoy. He was absolutely correct. The quality is excellent. It looks like it should cost far more than it does. The color is amazing and the fit and finish are above average. The nib is an EF but a bit larger than I would prefer. But it is very smooth with great ink flow.
