The Carnelian is a special color for the United States distributor. It is not available throughout the rest of the world, so it's only available in the United States. It has a red resin demonstrator that has some sparkle to it with small little specks throughout the pen that give it a little shimmer. It has silver-colored trim on the pen. There is a couple of bands at the bottom, as well as the top of the cap. The clip is attached to that ring on the cap. There is a ring at the bottom of the barrel of the pen that is engraved with 3776 Century Platinum, Made in Japan.
The cap is threaded and will unscrew and post on the end of the barrel of the pen. It has a matching section with a 14-karat gold nib that is also in a silver color to match the rest of the trim on the pen. The section will unscrew from the barrel of the pen and you can use an ink cartridge or converter that are both included. Platinum does have a proprietary cartridge, so you will have to use their cartridges or you can use bottled inks with the converter that's included.

Platinum 3776 Carnelian Video Script
This the Platinum 3776 Carnelian fountain pen. The pen comes in a black cardboard box with the Platinum logo in silver embossing on the top. A hinge-style lid with a fabric interior, the Platinum logo once again on the underside of the box lid. The box has a false bottom that comes off and included with the pen is an ink converter. This is my first (and, for now, my only) Platinum pen. It’s terrific. The size is comfortable, it has a great sparkling quality, the the nib(a medium) is terrific - a great introduction to that pencil-like feedback that people often describe of Platinum. My other gold-nib pens are smaller sizes (F and MF), so this has a broader line on paper than the others, but it’s not too wide.
While it’s not my first Platinum, it certainly won’t be my last!

I like Japanese fountain pens with 14k or better nibs and this pen fits with this like.
This is a quality fountain pen.
I bought the Van Dieman's Ruby Slippers red ink to go with this pen, here at the Pen Chalet.
I believe it is nice to purchase an ink when one purchases a pen, a way to add to the collection of inks.

This is a beautiful, SPARKLY red pen. It's my first 3776. I'm really beginning to see why people like gold nibs. A lovely pen, a smooth writer.

This is a pen that unfortunately is not very photogenic. The brilliant red color mixed with sparkle is definitely better seen in person, and it doesn't disappoint! Highly recommend. I've learned that Platinum SE models definitely have a more refined fit and finish than the standard models, especially the nibs. Well worth the purchase if you're in the market for a red Platinum.

It took me a little while to get used to this pen. I really liked the weight of the pen and the way it felt balanced in my hand but I wasn't too sure about the soft fine nib I ordered. I had only used Platinum Preppys before and thought this nib would feel like that nib. After debating whether I loved or hated the soft fine nib...I eventually decided I loved it. It writes perfect fine lines and I love the bounce it has. I am very happy with this pen, I adore the color and would buy a 3776 soft fine again.

Lovely red that is closer to Ferrari red (Rosso Corsa) than the previous red pen Platinum released. Typical Japanese attention to detail and the nib was perfect out of the box, as it should be. Pen Chalet is just incredible. I cannot imagine purchasing pens anywhere else.

Plat. 3776 Carnelian, EF. The color of this pen is beautiful, and the tasteful glitter shimmers when light shines thru it. The only ink used so far is N's Black Swan in Australian Roses. I normally would go with a F or M but only EF was available. Writing with this pen has been very disappointing - it is very scratchy in sound and feel. Initially it tended to dig into cheap paper, still quite scratchy on Clairefontaine, a little better on M. Mnemosyne. My $4 Preppy .03 is 10? 100? times nicer to write with. This seems to be the exception to other reviews I have read. I am rating product quality a 3 as I think the pen is well made overall, and this red is beautiful.

Writes well as with all 3776’s. It’s certainly bright! I went outside my comfort zone with this color but the overall quality of the pen keeps it looking higher-end instead of cheap and plastic. The more I look at it the more I like it!
