Pilot Falcon Video Script

This is the Pilot Namiki Falcon Pen. It comes in this nice cardboard case. It's got a hinged top so you can open it and use it to display the pen if you wish to. This particular pen is black with the gold accents.

The Pilot pens are made in Japan and are well known for the quality of their nibs. This particular pen has a gold nib. The cap unscrews to reveal the nib, you can also post the pen, it's nicer for writing. To replace the ink in this, this is a cartridge or converter style pen, you can unscrew the nib section from the barrel and it has a converter in it, a screw type converter to draw the ink into it. You can also pop that out, you can just pull that out and replace it with a cartridge. This particular pen also comes with a cartridge, right underneath the false bottom of this box you can see there is an extra cartridge of ink. It also comes with a user guide and the registration instructions inside the that false bottom.

This is a great pen for the price and you've got to have one of these. Get yours today at Penchalet.com

Years ago I used to buy cheap Scheaffer pens at the drug store and put in lever-operated converters so I could fill them from a bottle. More recently my oldest son took up handwriting as an academic study and he converted me to the Falcon pen. I like the smooth, controllable nib and the screw-type ink cylinder. I like that it clips to my shirt pocket pretty firmly.

Great for EF writing. Not as much nib flex as I had hoped for. The diameter of the pen is very small. Much more difficult to write with than larger pilot pens with my big hands. Nib tuned very well.

One of the pens that first intrigued me into joining the fountain pen community but I waited a full year before purchasing and it has been another year since and I can easily say this is a must have. I don’t really flex it much but the ink lay down on this is like no other pen. The shading it produces even with a extra fine nib and no pressure is on another level. I regret not getting a few more before the price was hiked to be honest.

The nib is so smooth and has never once skipped no matter how much I’ve test flexed it or how long I left it unused. Every time it touches a paper, it just glides across it. Pilot really outdid themselves with this.

Great writer, flexy nib takes some use to but not hard to manage. Absolutely worth the price.

Takes some getting used to, as with any pen that's quite different from the run-of-the-mill. Love the delicate line variation produced by this soft fine nib.

Wonderful pen. Pleasure to write. Just a slight amount of springiness. Especially the SF nib. Clean, crisp lines when writing in English. In addition writing non English script works very well.

FAQs about the Pilot Falcon

Q:
Is this pen metal or resin body (sounds like metal but I read it was resin)? How much does it wight?
Thanks in advance
PS I love your videos keep up the excellent work.
Asked on Sep 11 2018 by Ray
A:
The body is a resin and it weighs about .6 oz.
Q:
I noticed that in the images of the black with rhodium trim that the nib matches the trim. If I order the rhodium? model will the nib be 14k gold & gold in color or will it be 14k gold and coated silver to match? the trim? That may be an obvious question to some, but this would be my first gold nib and have no prior knowledge about them. Thanks in advance! :)
Asked on May 19 2017 by Danni
A:
The nibs on the different colors of the Pilot Falcon pens are all gold nibs. The silver color has a rhodium coating over the nib to give it the color but the performance is the same.
Q:
I understand that the Namiki Falcon comes with "Pilot" branded on the nib, but does the pen have "Namiki ... Made in Japan" branded on the cap ring?
Asked on Mar 28 2017 by Andrew
A:
No, the Pilot Falcon fountain pens are now all branded as Pilot rather than Namiki on both the nib and the band of the pen.
Q:
Which ones have the Namiki branding printed on the nib?
Asked on May 19 2015 by Jeremy
A:
The older version of the Namiki Falcon fountain pen had Namiki on the nib but the pen now comes with Pilot on the nib. We do not have any with Namiki branding engraved on the nib.
Q:
Is the "soft fine" the same as the "fine" I see listed here? All over the Internet I see great reviews of the "soft fine" or "Soft extra fine" and I very interested in trying it out. I am especially interested in its use for calligraphy.
Asked on Apr 2 2015 by Julia
A:
Yes, the soft fine is the same as the fine listed. The Namiki falcon comes with a flexible soft nib on all the nib sizes.
Q:
Is SF nib smoother than SEF? I have hard time deciding between the two. Is there more line variation between the two?
Asked on Mar 16 2015 by Lukasz
A:
The Soft Fine nib on the Namiki Falcon fountain pen is definitely smoother than the extra fine. The fine would also be a slightly wider line so you will see more line variation.
Q:
Do you have Namiki Falcon Fountain Pen Black "soft extra fine" nib
Asked on Dec 24 2014 by Aydin
A:
Yes the Namiki falcon soft extra fine nib comes in either black with gold color accents or black with rhodium accents.
Q:
Does the Namiki Falcon come with the converter?
Asked on Jun 22 2014 by Morten
A:
Yes, the Namiki Falcon fountain pen comes with an ink converter included with the pen.
