About the Van Dieman's Ink Ink Diluter & Rehydrator
Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator is a multi-purpose fluid for desaturating highly saturated inks, lightening the tone of particularly darkly inks and rehydrating fountain pen inks that have lost volume and thickened due to evaporation over time.
Using Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator protects your ink's pH, surface tension, and viscosity, which are all essential elements for writing quality and ink flow. Some inks even have a specific pH for their dye, so protecting the ink's original pH is essential when diluting or rehydrating to avoid accidental color changes.
Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator is custom made with the exact same chemical and physical properties of high-quality fountain pen ink, using it to reyhydrate or dilute your ink can improve ink flow, prevent feathering and bleed through, and maintain dye vibrancy. The solution even contains a powerful broad spectrum anti-microbial designed to extend the lifespan of your fountain pen and dip pen inks.
How to Dilute Fountain Pen Ink:
1. Clean a small ink bottle and lid by boiling them in water.
2. Let them air dry.
3. Using the included pipette, draw out 10ml of your chosen ink and deposit it in the recently cleaned (and dried) spare ink bottle.
4. Rinse out the pipette.
5. Use the same pipette to add a few mls Van Dieman's Ink Diluter & Rehydrator solution to the spare ink bottle (along with the 10ml of your chosen ink). it to add diluter to the drawn ink.
6. Stir the ink.
7. Swatch the diluted ink.
8. Continue adding a few mls of diluter at a time and swatching after each addition until your ink reaches the desired saturation.
What to Do If Your Fountain Pen Ink is Dehydrated:
1. Use the included pipette to add a few mls of Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator to your ink.
2. Stir the ink, and swatch it.
3. Continue adding a few mls of Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator solution at a time, swatching after each addition, until your ink reaches the desired saturation.

Van Dieman's Ink Ink Diluter & Rehydrator Reviews
I had a bit of ink set aside in a small tube and sealed with plastic wrap after I'd poured out a little too much. It kept really well at first, but then I used some of it (to write a few cards, so I only needed a little), which decreased the adhesion of the wrap. When I went to refill it, there was serious evaporation that had transpired.
Van Dieman's Ink Diluter & Rehydrator did the trick in reviving it. I didn't know how much to use at first, but I tinkered around with it and found the right ratio. No worries, either -- it was a very forgiving process, and it was super intuitive. I was also able to play around with the viscosity of the rehydrated ink before setting it back to its original state, which yielded fun results.
I can't speak to its value with a lot of certainty just because I suspect that some people would be able to find ways to rehydrate their inks with a thrifty homemade solution, but I'm not confident enough to do that (yet). For that reason, I'll give the Product Value a 5 since it seems worth it to the person I am right now.
