The Pelikan M120 Special Edition fountain pen has a polished blue resin with 14k gold trim. The pen uses a piston filling system and has been fitted with a gold plated stainless steel nib to match the pen.
Created with an retro Pelikan feel, the M120 was originally introduced in 1955. This modern version of the pen has a few improvements to the filling system and design.
The 2018 special edition color is iconic blue.

And, of course, we have the Pelikan M120 Special Edition fountain pen. This happens to be the iconic blue color, the color for 2018. It has gold-colored trim on the pen, the traditional pelican bill-shaped clip, with a gold band or ring at the top that attaches the clip. At the bottom of the cap, there is another gold band with "Pelikan" and "Germany" engraved on the band.
It is a piston-style fountain pen, so there is also a small knob at the end of the barrel to actuate the piston to fill the pen with ink. The cap on the pen is threaded and unscrews. It can be posted on the pen. The pen has an ink-viewing window. It is a transparent window, so you can see the ink level inside the barrel of the pen. You are able to see how much ink is left, a nice feature of the Pelikan pens. The pen has a stainless steel, gold-plated nib, so matches the rest of the trim on the pen, with a black feed on the back side.

This is the Pelikan M120 Special Edition fountain pen. It comes in a cardboard box with the Pelikan logo printed on the top of the box lid, which slides off. The pen comes in a small leatherette carrying pouch. You can see the Pelikan logo embossed in the bottom corner on the flap of the pouch. To be honest, I only ordered this pen because it was a lower-priced Pelikan model that I didn't have in my collection already. Upon receipt, I noted the same excellent quality seen with all Pelikans, but the photos don't do it justice. It's a richer, deeper, less plastic-looking blue than in the photos. It's one of the smaller Pelikans, but I tend to prefer the small ones, especially the 100 size range. It's a very nice pen.

I thought the pen was pictured with a light blue portion but the pen itself doesn't look like this. The photo makes it appear classier than it is. I am disappointed with the quality of the pen, it isn't worth the price and it's writing is not exceptional....just average. I would give it a 2 out of 5 star rating. For the cost (even discounted) it is not high quality material, esp. compared to the other pens I have enjoyed from Pen Chalet.

On the smaller size comparable to some vintage pens, but I can use it for extended periods, especially posted. Very nice looking and well made, and the piston filling system works perfectly and has a large ink window. The engraving on the steel nib is more elaborate than that on my M205 and M215 pens, and this fine nib is exceptional. It's smooth and bouncy and can easily create nice line variation, although not a flex nib. I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance and highly recommend this M120 S.E. Iconic Blue.
