A fine pen. The aluminum body feels very light, even lighter than plastics, but it still gives off a sturdy and well constructed feeling. I selected a medium nib, and it writes a nice, true medium line, neither too wet nor too dry. The Turmaline Special Edition finish is an attractive blue-green.
My only reservation is the triangular grip, which is relatively more pronounced than that of the TWSBI ECO-T and feels subtly wrong somehow. This does not seriously affect the ability to write, however.

Lovely color for this year. I won't comment on the Al-Star itself since many people have reviewed, commented, etc., regarding Safaris and their metal bodied cousins the Al-Stars and Lxs. It is a wonderful, inexpensive fountain pen with the ability to easily switch nib sizes that come in many beautiful colors. What more to say?

I love this pen--the left-handed nib, the color, the matching ink! Some say lefties don't need a special nib; this is my first one and it's excellent! I never need to readjust my grip to write smoothly like other pens.
I thought the lightweight Al and the bulky lid might bug me, but I don't even think about them when I'm writing.

I LOVE Lamy pens. This one was a gift; however, for a high school grad. They may be on the entry/inexpensive side, however, Lamy is one of the best Fountain Pens available.

The Vibrant Pink special edition Al-Star is a beautiful color and a sturdy pen. This is my second Lamy (the other is a Joy), and even though I've tried different inks, even with the matching special edition Vibrant Pink ink intended to be used with this pen, I find it to feel very dry as I write with it. The Joy was the same, but not being familiar with these pens, I had hoped it was just the ink choices, especially given that others seem to rave about how incredible all of the Lamy pens are. Perhaps just not "my" favorite, but a quality pen, nonetheless. I still consider the pen to be of excellent quality, functionality, style, value - just a bit too dry of a writer for my preference.
