The Gioia Special Edition Partenope Fiamma (or Flame) fountain pen's fiery resin is paired with yellow gold-plated trim, and a new, beautifully designed stamped JoWo nib exclusive to Gioia pens (also gold-plated).

The special edition's fiery resin features marbled Red, Yellow, and Black on both the barrel and cap with a black section and knob. The Gioia LE Partenope Fiamma was inspired by the Lampadedromia Neapolitana Half Marathon, the oldest sporting event in the shadow of Vesuvius (5th Century BC). In this ancient relay race, participants carried torches and honored the mythological mermaid, Partenope. Revived in 2016 after centuries, this time-honored event starts at the acropolis of Cumae (the first ancient Greek colony on the mainland of Italy, founded in 8th BC) and ends in front of the Castel dell'Ovo. According to tradition and mythology, this is also where the mermaid Partenope died.

Changing the Gioia Partenope from a fountain pen to a rollerball and back again is simple. Just unscrew the front portion of the pen (including the nib or tip and section) from the barrel and replace the entire front section with the alternate version. The "rollerball" version of the Gioia Partenope is compatible with a Parker ballpoint pen refill.

The Gioia Special Edition Partenope Fiamma fountain pen is a non-numbered, special edition. (In contrast to the other members of the Gioia Partenope line, the Gioia LE Partenope Fiamma does NOT display the “Tricolore” (the Italian flag) on the barrel of the pen. This design change means the Fiamma is a special model within the Partenope line.
