The Retro 51 Tread rollerball pen has a unique acid-etched pattern integrated into the barrel of the pen. The result is a tactile feel that is finished in two vibrant lacquer colors and a matte black Flint. Each pen comes loaded with a rollerball refill and comes packaged in a Retro branded tube.

This is a fun pen. The flint color gives it a serious look, and the etched treads provide a good grip. I like the versatility of using Parker style refills.

I recently purchased the retro 51 tread flare rollerball and love the feel and the performance of the pen. I also purchased the spark and the Flint as well. Makes a great gift for friends. I have many of the retro rollerball pens for myself as well. The customer service (Jen) is excellent as well.

Earlier this month I received the Retro 51 Tread in the yellow "Spark" finish which I liked so much that I also ordered the orange "Flare" model, which I received yesterday. I now have four of these rollerballs (and one fountain pen) and find them to be very well made and very good writers. The acid-etched versions are unique and have a nice feel in the hand, and these Tread type are my favorites. I highly recommend them if you don't mind a twist type as opposed to a clicker pen.
