Rotring 800 Video Script

This is the rOtring 800 mechanical pencil. The pencil comes in a small, compact, triangular shaped cardboard box. You can see the rOtring logo in red here, with Germany 1928. This is a German made mechanical pencil. The 800 mechanical pencil. Also information about rOtring on the bottom of the box. This box opens, a couple of tabs that pull out. Included with the mechanical pencil is just information about it.

And this is the rOtring 800 mechanical pencil. Now this is the silver version of the pencil. It also comes in a matte black finish. On the top of the cap, you can see this little cap. It comes off to reveal the eraser for the pencil. That eraser also pulls out, and you can change the lead here on the top of the pencil. You can see there's a small gold band, and then a red band there at the top. It has a small knurled section here, grip section, I'll show you what that's for in just a minute. And then the clip of the pencil has the rOtring logo engraved into it. And on the side of the pencil is rOtring 800, and then the size of the lead for the pencil. This happens to be the 0.7 mm. There's also a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil. And then it has a nice knurled grip section, it makes it real easy to grip and use the pencil with this grip section. I really like that. And on the very tip of the pencil it has a nice gold color ring. You can see inside the writing tip there on the mechanical pencil.

Now, the nice thing about 800 is that the writing tip actually retracts here into the pencil. Keeps it protected, keeps it from getting broken. Great for carrying it in your bag or pocket. It doesn't snag on anything. So to extend that, you simply twist back here on the cap. You can see that as I twist that, the writing tip for the mechanical pencil extends. Now, the writing tip is also gold, and then it has a silver section. That little silver sleeve is actually not the lead. The lead extends out by simply compressing the cap on the pencil, and that extends the lead for the pencil for writing. Because this is so fine and so small, it makes it real easy to use when you're using a ruler or easy to see as you're writing.

ROtring makes some great mechanical pencils. High quality, fairly inexpensive German brand. Get your rOtring 800 mechanical pencil at PenChalet.com!

Excellent mechanical pencil, possible the best designed and crafted I have used. You can spend a lot more for a mechanical pencil from a famous fountain pen brand, but you will not find a better pencil

FAQs about the Rotring 800

Q:
what is the difference, in terms of use, between the .5mm and the .7mm tips?
Asked on Dec 18 2016 by Tony
A:
It is the size of the lead that the mechanical pencil holds. The 0.5mm would be a finer line than what the 0.7mm lead will write.
Q:
Could you use it for school purposes and not for drafting
Asked on Apr 26 2016 by Keith
A:
Yes, of course you can use the Rotring mechanical pencils for school use.
