Visconti Opera Metal Video Script

This is the Visconti Opera Metal Fountain Pen. The pen comes in a nice leather box. It has the Visconti logo embossed on the center of the box lid. Rounded edges on the box, and small drawer on one side that pulls out with information about Visconti.

Hinge style lid lifts open. Nice leather interior to the box, with the Visconti logo printed on the under side of the box lid. And this is the Visconti Opera Metal Fountain Pen. This is the Monza version of the pen. I really like the red and black together. It has a, just a matte finish on all the parts, the cap and barrel. It is a aluminium pen, so it's a little heavier but it's still lightweight. Feels like a lightweight aluminium.

Top of the cap has the Visconti logo in a black medallion with a red ring around it, and then the red clip with the black Visconti logo. It think that really looks sharp. And at the bottom of the cap a nice large red ring with Monza engraved. And, you can see the shape of the pen it's flattened, or has flat edges on both the cap and the barrel. That's really great for keeping your pen in place, and not rolling off of the table, or away from you.

The bottom of the barrel of the pen is just a red cap that has a pointed, slightly pointed end on it. And it has the hood safe lock cap, so the cap is kind of spring loaded. It actually kind of snaps, or pops off as you release it, or twist it off. You can see the little channels there in the section for the cap. As it screws onto the section of the pen. The section is a red color, and a black color steel nib.

You can see the tubular design as it wraps around the feed on the back side. Sharp looking pen. I really like the design. It looks really, really nice. A cartridge converter style pen, so to change the ink you unscrew the section from the barrel of the pen. Included is a Visconti ink converter. You can also use a standard universal ink cartridge if you would like to for this pen.

One thing I forgot to mention is the cap will post on this pen. It is quite long I feel with that cap posted, because that cap just barely covers that red section on the bottom of the barrel of the pen. It also has to be at the right angle for it to post.

Great looking pen, I love the Visconti Opera Metal. Get your Visconti Opera Metal Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!

The Visconti Opera Metal True Black edition is a stunning pen with excellent build quality. I experience no issues with the nib that stays wet (medium wet would be the best way to describe it) and doesn't hard start or skip even when left uncapped for a few hours. The pen is perfectly weight both capped and uncapped for my slightly larger hands. The avonial or avionics grade aluminum from which the pen is made has a nice texture and feel to it, which makes the pen feel substantial and I dare say almost indestructible. Even capped the pen does not become unwieldy, but slightly back weighted. Uncapped, the weight distribution is perfect by my writing style and hand size. Combine that with a unique nib and medium wet ink flow, you have a pen that's fun to write with that you will be able to write with for a long time. Absolutely love this pen. I was a little skeptical reading some of the earlier reviews, but glad I went ahead with my purchase, especially at the sale price!

I primarily use this pen for day to day which includes a lot of note taking in my planner. I went with the extra fine nib and have had no irregularities whatsoever. It is silky smooth and gives me a lot more precision than the previous pen that I was using for this purpose (Diplomat Marakesh M Nib). I absolutely love the materials and durability of the aluminum. I do have relatively large hands, so unlike others this is perfectly sized and feels well balanced for my writing style.

A rather heavy pen this one, though there are heavier ones around. Very impressive packaging. Very unique nib design. The tip is actually upturned a few degrees and looks bent. Buttery smooth and excellent wet flow. I have the medium nib variant and wish I had ordered the fine nib. The medium writes almost like a broad. Its saving grace is the smoothness and excellent ink flow. Never a dry start and even in the tropics at over 35 degs centigrade it write wet after being open for over half an hour. The section is a tad wider than I like it and at first when I wrote several pages there was a slight cramping in my thumb muscles. Wish Visconti had redistributed the weight to the section a bit more so that it weighed down on the paper. Yes, I found it a bit back heavy even when not posted. I usually dont post my pen caps. At it's regular price I'd certainly expect a lot more from a pen but considering I got it at a substantial discount it was worth the buy.

I went through a lot of issues trying to get the shipment outside the US and Ron was there all the while sorting out the problems and I'm grateful for his support (in spite of my many emails and calls to him with loads of probably impertinent questions and difficulties I was having).

Definitely recommend PenChalet.com for all related purchases
All in all I certainly recommend this pen (though I'd recommend the fine nib to the medium).

A very pretty pen. The body is beautifully machined with excellent colors and surfaces. The converter is a step up from the usual junky one you see in most pens, with better materials. But....the nib. As has been my experience with most Viscontis, the flow is erratic, and the start angle must be just right to get the pen going. It's clear that a nib meister hand is needed to get it working properly. Visconti: why do you let nibs out of the factory like this?? Moreover, a steel nib with a $650 MSRP? I got a great deal from Pen Chalet on this pen, so I am not unhappy with it, and I will get the nib adjusted, but if I had paid the standard market price, I think I would have returned it.
