About Amber Stipula Adagio

The Stipula Adagio fountain pen is inspired by greatness, the kind of greatness you take your time enjoying. Great music often features "adagio" moments - or points at which the tempo is intentionally slow. Similarly, the opalescent, discreetly luminescent resin pen design featuring eight faceted sides on the body and cap, is meant to enjoy. The Stipula Adagio is handmade in Italy, uses a piston mechanism operated by a rotating knob, and each is individually fitted with a high-performance stainless steel nib.

In some Stipula Adagio fountain pen batches, a complimentary Stipula ink bottle (approx. 30ml) is included*. Complimentary inks are Stipula's Verde Risorgimento fountain pen ink, a bright green ink color inspired by the Italian Resorgimental Flag. Complimentary inks included with the Stipula Adagio fountain pens purposefully include no label.

Stipula Adagio Fountain Pens

*Not all Stipula Adagio fountain pens come with a complimentary ink, the inks are only included with some pen batches.

This is a favorite pen because of its visual appeal and smooth writing (1.1 stub). My only complaint is that when the ink gets particularly low there are plenty of hard starts...but that's not all bad as it reminds me to refill!

This pen is a lovely, magnificent writer. A bit wet, if one has to deal with less than stellar paper; but that might have been the ink. (Stipula Calamo Sepia. Looks great! Glad I got a full bottle!) Still, this beautiful pen is my best Every Day Carry pen.

My Seagreen Stipula Adagio is one of the nicest pens I've ever owned. It looks beautiful, has a great feel in the hand and a wonderfully smooth nib, and effortlessly writes with the lightest of pressures. It has a nice, large ink capacity as well. It's quickly become one of my favorite pens. Plus, the Verde Risorgimento "Italian Flag Green". ink that came with it is beautiful and flows very nicely. Especially with the Seagreen version of the Adagio the ink is an excellent pairing.

If I can quibble about anything, it's that I wish it had an ink window or a little more barrel transparency, and I wish the pen were about 10-15 mm longer. It's useable for me unposted but the butt of the barrel rests in the web of my thumb. Add the fact that this isn't a pen I'd recommend posting (metal cap threads on a faceted resin barrel doesn't sound like a good idea to me!), and you have a somewhat short pen that's perhaps not as well suited to long writing sessions as it might otherwise be.

Hey Stipula! Maybe put in about a 10 mm ink window between the resin barrel and the metal section? That would kill two birds with one stone! ??

I originally got the Amber, but the resin does have metal look in it. Pen Chalet allowed me to change it to the green, which, seen in person, works better, I thought, in the material, almost stone like. It works great and am very happy with the pen. Pen Chalet are great people!

So, were do I start. The good -the pen minus the cap is beautiful. The color to me is more turquoise then sea green but still lovely. The in between -the cap is overly heavy but since I don't post it's a none issue for me. Ascetically - The cap and body of the pen seem mismatched. the cap has all the color and the bottom almost none by comparison. I know that in such, resin pens, you should expect variations but this almost looks like a mistake or a lack in quality control. The bad -it took quite a bit of adjusting to get it to write. I don't know whether that broad nibs or stubs, which I prefer, have some inherent issue or... what? Maybe it's par for the course but when a Jinhao writes straight out the padded envelop it got mailed in why oh why can't one that I spent 150 dollars do the same?

I now have both the blue and sea green Stipula Adagio pens. The sea green was my first and I have loved writing with it so much that I had to come back for my favorite color...the blue one! Nice, substantial pen that is beautiful to look at and a joy to hold while writing. What else can I say? Whichever color(s) you prefer, this is THE pen!

The sea green pen is the one I ordered and it is absolutely gorgeous. The only other pen I have that can hold its own against this pen in beauty is my Xezo Maestro Blue Paua shell that is equally as beautiful to look at. But of course, it isn't all about beauty, is it? Granted, we love holding a beautiful, sturdy pen in our hand and then there is the writing and how the ink flows and the nib feels against the paper. This is one of those pens I could write and write forever with and never get tired! Well worth the price if you love to write.

FAQs about the Stipula Adagio

Q:
A bottle of ink came with this pen. What is it?

The Stipula box had a special space for this bottle. I would estimate it to be 15-30 mL in volume.

The bottle appears to be brown glass and has a green, speckled cap. There are no identifying markings.

The ink is not obvious through the dark brown glass.

A plastic seal of some sort appears to be affixed to the top. It recesses about 1/4 of an inch from the top of the bottle. From ink residue on the edges of this seal I determined the ink must be some bright green. It's not clear to me how the seal should be broken or removed; it seems difficult to dislodge, and it's not clear if it should be punctured.

What is this bottle, and how can I use it?
Asked on Apr 5 2021 by Michael
A:
The pen is a piston style pen and you can fill it with the bottle of green Stipula ink that is enclosed.
