This is the Platinum PTL-5000A Balance Fountain Pen. It has a resin cap and barrel with gold trim, matching color in the center of the clip, a gold band at the top. A plain black medallion on both ends of the pen matching the color of the resin. A gold ring at the bottom of the pen as well. The bottom of the cap is a thicker gold band printed on the pen is Platinum and Japan. The cap is a compression fit cap. It snaps off and you can post that cap on the end of the barrel of the pen.
And nice feature about this pen is that comes with a 14 karat gold nib. It is engraved with the Platinum logo on the nib.

This is the Platinum PTL-5000A Balance Fountain Pen. It comes in a basic cardboard box with a clear transparent lid. It has the Platinum logo printed in gold on the top of the box lid that slides off. Inside is the information about Platinum, the instructional manual, and warranty. And, of course, we have the pen in a small plastic clear box where the lid lifts open. Included with the pen is a Platinum ink cartridge. Wish I'd gotten the fine. The extra-fine is brutally scratchy and very dry. My semi-skilled attempts to tune this tiny kitten-claw haven't been going well, so now it's more like a fine that returns to paper-scratching with any extra pressure. But it IS a lovely pen, nice and slim for a shirt pocket, classy for the office, and maybe someday I will replace it with the fine or even medium.

Love this pen - I ordered the extra fine and it is, indeed, a true extra fine nib. Gold nib, but does have some feedback, as most EFs do, but it works nicely for me. Barrell is thin but the pen has a great weight to it without feeling heavy - you can feel the quality. It has never failed to start easily for me, even after no use for a couple of weeks with a Diamine sheening ink (Marine). Quality pen, nice for the office as well.

For a 14k gold nib with some flex, you cannot beat the price .the pen writes smoothly across the pages with a little feedback.
