Platinum quality. Classic black with gold looks very nice. Fine nib writes SUPER fine, so be aware if you don't like a *very* fine line.

This is a great pen. It was my first gold nib pen. It's a classic but not austere. The converter is really top notch. It's easy to fill to the top and doesn't cause a mess. It's also easy to clean out if you want to change out inks. If you don't, it's cheap enough to buy a couple of more converters. It writes great, smooth, no skipping, just a wonderful pen. It does have two problems that can drive you nuts.

1. I like to post my pens. The cap has a really hard time hanging on. It makes a great effort attempting to fall off. It can be maddening.

2. It is a really hard starter but only sometimes. But only if you leave the cap off. If I lay the pen down with the cap off for only 10 seconds, sometimes less, it is hard to start. However, If I snap the cap on, I can leave the pen down for a week and it lays a line of ink down immediately. This happens no mmater the kind of ink or the direction I leave the pen in. Fortunately the cap snaps on and off quickly and securely

I wasn't sure if this would be a Century, but the product booklet in the Platinum box says it is. Gorgeous pen. Gorgeous nib. The black and gold looks elegant, and the pen is light but well-built. I love the screw-cap.I have read reviews saying that the Platinums have too much feedback compared to Pilot and Sailor. I have to say, though, that I adore how this nib flows across the page - so far using just the enclosed Platinum cart (but soon to be running Platinum Black in the cartridge converter).

Amusingly, this pen is almost the exact dimensions of a Noodler's Ahab. Same shape and height, but unlike the Ahab, it tapers down at the back end.
