Pineider Avatar UR Demonstrator (rubber grip) Fountain Pens

The original Pineider Avatar UR demonstrator fountain made from a clear transparent UltraResin that Pineider describes as similar to celluloid, and basically unbreakable is actually a new material called "UltraResin" (which you see referenced by the UR in the name of the pen). UltraResin is a mother of pearl compound resin resistant to breaks, oil, ink, variations in temperature, and UV rays. As such, the company describes it as having all the benefits of celluloid without the problems (like crystallization or susceptibility to heat). The Pineider Avatar UR Demonstrator fountain pen design was 3D engineered so it could be assembled without using any glue.

The trims are palladium plated, and since this is the original Pineider Avatar UR fountain pen design, the pens in this listing also feature the comfort grip section that is lined in special replaceable, anti-aging, anti-yellowing super soft rubber to make writing a relaxing and pleasant pastime. This grip section is not featured in later models of the pen.* When filling the pen with ink, Pineider recommends removing the ink converter and filling it directly from the ink bottle, or using a tool like the Pineider Snorkel Filler to avoid getting ink in the grip section. Using one of these two filling techniques rather than submerging the nib in ink to fill the pen avoids getting ink under the rubber grip . The ink can be cleaned out, but it's a much less messy experience if you avoid filling the nib via submersion.

The Avatar UR Demo is fitted with a rhodium plated #6 steel nib with a new futuristic Pineider logo engraved on it and arrives in Pineider's standard green "writing desk" box with stationery samples. Choose from several great demo colors.

*The rubber grip, while prized by some pen enthusiasts for its comfortable and firm grip, was replaced because other writers had problems with ink seeping between the rubber grip and the metal section underneath.
