The Noodlers Ahab Special Edition is an exclusive Pen Chalet color. The pen comes with a black resin barrel with touches of red. Created with the same body as the Ahab, this special edition has the same cartridge converter filling system and #6 stainless steel flex nib. Only 150 pens were made.

Love this pen!! Usually with pens I have trouble gripping them w/o them sliding around. This one fits me nicely and I have now trouble. Even the nib is perfect. The price that I paid for it was reasonable.
I have 3 minor things to complain about. First and foremost; inking the pen. I have yet to get the correct ink cartridges for this pen so I use the convertor. It seems like I am ALWAYS refilling the bloody thing.
Second complaint is that I want to order more like this but they are always sold out!!!
Third it screws on, but that is a minor thing I can live with.

The Ahab is one of the best all around pens on the market. I use one for traveling and I use the optional convertor because it holds more ink. I recommend both the pen and the convertor Noodler's makes.

The pen feels slightly tacky and had a decidedly chemical smell but that faded. The pen seems of average construction but usable. I think this can fill the role of an experimental pen.

I puchased this item thinking that because of its lower price tag that it would be fine for rough traveling. I discovered that it is a very fine pen and exceeded my expectations. I find that I use it just as much as I use my higher priced fountain pens.

What a Beautiful looking pen made only for Pen Chalet......I just fell in love with the coloring and the point that it is 1 of 150........If only this were a Piston F.P. If only this were a piston filler it would be the ultimate

I personally don’t know Nathan but from what I’ve seen in his videos the man is passionate about his work and I admire his enthusiasm, but he should stick to inks and I mean that in a kind, humble and hopefully forgiving way. Though I understand he wants to make things affordable for the masses I truly think that quality manufacturing should be top priority and I would pay accordingly. Overall the Ahab is an “OK” pen which you will learn to love or hate. The Special Edition color I did not find so special since to me its brown and red in color vs. black and red. The nib wrote smoothly out of the box. Though it’s a flex nib, I don’t flex write so I will be changing that nib out eventually. I purchased this pen to add to my Noodler’s collection, but this will be my last for sure. There are some issues with this pen. I cannot take the pen with me since where ever I go I am asked “What is that smell?” so it stays at home. The cap clip I found cheap and annoying so I removed it and made sure to forget where I put it. Other than that, what else can I say. I know I sound like I’m trolling and that is not my intention I just call it as I see it.
