Coral Conklin Glider Series Fountain Pens

The Glider Chase Design is the latest of the Conklin writing instruments. Embedded into the surface of the fountain pen is a fascinating decorative texture. Pens in the 1900s were mainly from black rubber. A process of "chasing" was used to add texture and design to the otherwise plain look of the writing instruments. Because chasing took great skill and time to achieve it made the pens more valuable. Chasing is also referred to as Guilloché, from the French word.

Pens today are mainly made from resins rather than rubber allowing for more colors. On the Conklin Glider Series fountain pen the Rick-Rack Chase Design was selected because the wavy "C" pattern reminiscent of the Conklin name.

Conklin Glider Series Video Script

This is the Conklin Glider fountain pen. It comes in a blue faux leather box with the Conklin logo here on the top. The box has a hinge top to it. Inside we have the fountain pen refill instructions attached to the pen. It also comes with an additional ink cartridge.

This is a cartridge converter style pen. We will show you how to change that cartridge or converter here in a minute.

This pen has chasing etched around the pen. It might be hard to see on this. This is the ivory version of the pen. It also comes in a black and a coral version. This is the coral version of the pen.

You can kind of see it in the video that there is a little etching around the pen. It is called chasing. It is a resin pen. It has different color accents on the pens. On the ivory it has a rose gold accent and on the coral version it has chrome color.

On the clip is engraved Conklin and then around the ring we have Conklin Glider etched. Also on the top of the pen is Conklin established 1898.

Conklin is an American pen. It has been around for awhile, obviously, 1898. This is a Conklin nib. You can see it has the Conklin logo on it.

To replace the cartridge or converter the nib section unscrews from the barrel and you can pull that out. You can fill it with ink using the converter or replace it with a cartridge. Whichever you would like.
