This is the Conklin Empire Fountain Pen. It comes in a blue leatherette box, with the Conklin logo embossed in gold on the top of the box. It also has gold stitching on the box to match, and a hinge-style lid. Inside is information about Conklin, the warranty, and use and care guide. On the underside of the box lid, once again, the Conklin logo is embossed in gold, and a soft fabric bed for the pen.

And of course, we have the Conklin Empire Fountain Pen. It has a unique shape to the pen. It also has a nice resin that kind of looks like the night sky, where it will sparkle when it hits it in the right way. Chrome clip on the pen with the Conklin logo. And at the bottom of the cap there is a thick chrome band with a red paint stripe around the center. And it also has some engraving on the back side. It has a compression fit cap with a magnetic catch. The cap can be posted on the pen, as well. It is a good size pen without it posted as well. It has a metal section on the pen, which gives it a little weight towards the front. I like that metal section because it does give it a little weight and it also has a small ridge at the front, so your fingers don't slide off the front of the section, even though it is metal.

Stainless steel, two-tone nib, with a black feed. It is a cartridge converter style fountain pen, so you unscrew that metal section from the front of the pen. Included is a standard international ink converter for use with fountain pen ink bottles. There is also, under the false bottom of the box, a couple of standard international ink cartridges, so that's an option as well for the pen.

Interesting pen. Conklin's a great brand. Get your Conklin Empire Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!

The Conklin Empire is a solid writing instrument. The cap posts well and it is comfortable to hold in the hand as well as light enough that your hand will not get tired holding it if you are editing your manuscript as I like to do (with red ink). All in all, a lovely pen to have as well as use regularly.

I loved the design and the fact that it has a magnetic cap, but the nib feels a little rough and ink doesn't seem to flow as good as even my Lamy AL-Star. For the higher price I would have expected it to be a little smoother than it is.

Ummm this pen is amazing, beautiful, and writes so freakin smooth out the box. Amazing balance and texture. Some may not like the metal grip as it gets slippery if your hands are oily. So don't blame the pen, wash your hands before you use them. The pen is a must have for any level of enthusiast. Conklin knocked it out the park with this vintage beauty. Pen chalet awesome on the delivery as always.

I have the Stardust white version of this fountain pen. When shown to family, all remarked how it looked like it was carved from marble or similar stone. The sparkle effect is invisible due to the lack of contrast between the base color and the sparkles. Don't get white if this effect is important.

The nib dries out overnight, and needs some moisture to prime it for writing again. This is not unique to this pen. So far I have owned Pilot, Noodlers and now Conklin fountain pens, and they all have this behavior. I use the pen daily, but after it sits overnight, with the lid securely fastened, it will not write without moisture applied to the nib tip. I cap the pen tightly and immediately after each use. The cap on this Conklin pen is magnetic, so the closure is very tight, and the Noodlers was screw on, ensuring it was tight as well.

All these experiences have been with several Sailor Jentle inks. It is possible that the ink is at fault, so I did not rate the pen down because of this.

I really wanted to try this pen because I liked the style of it (It reminds me of Star Wars for some reason!), so I bought it knowing that I would have to replace the nib. I hate all Conklin nibs except their stub nibs. They all seem to have skipping and hard start issues for me. Otherwise, it's a nice pen.
