This is the Conklin Duraflex Elements Fountain Pen. The pen comes in a cardboard sleeve. It is a limited edition pen so there are only so many of them made. The pen comes in three colors. This happens to be the earth, so it has a brown or a gold sleeve.

Inside the cardboard sleeve is the traditional Conklin box, blue leatherette with gold embossing on the top with gold stitching on the exterior of the box with a hinge style lid. The box has a soft fabric interior with the Conklin logo once again on the underside of the box lid. Included with the pen is information about Conklin, the warranty, the use and care guide, and underneath the false bottom is some standard international ink cartridges since it is a cartridge converter pen.

Then, of course, we have the Conklin Duraflex Elements Fountain Pen. This happens to be the earth version, which has these brown and black tones. It does have some clear sections where you can actually see the nib through the cap and the ink level on the inside. It has a black finial on the top with the Conklin logo engraved into the top. The pen has a black clip and black trim, so there is a black ring at the bottom of the cap that is engraved with Conklin and Duragraph on the back with some Conklin moons and then a small ring here at the bottom.

It is a threaded cap that will unscrew, and you can post on the pen. It makes it pretty long pen with the cap posted so it doesn't necessarily need to be posted to use. It is a decent-size pen without that.

Normally it comes with a Conklin Duraflex nib. This happens to be just a standard nib. We have other nib sizes available with the pen as well, so you can order it with either the Omniflex nib or just a standard nib sizes. This is the black stainless steel with a black feed, and it is a cartridge converter so that front section unscrews and included with the pen is an ink converter, so bottled inks is an option with the pen or the cartridges I showed you earlier.

Conklin's just a great brand. They make some good products. Get your Conklin Elements Duragraph Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!

be warned that, unless you specifically select the "flex" option, the nib is not going to be a flex nib. i was under the impression that every pen from the duraflex line had a flex nib with the wings cut out of it, and i was just selecting the tipping size. i ordered a fine, and i ended up getting just a regular conklin fine nib. now if i want a flex nib, i've gotta spend another $20 on a spare conklin nib. i'll just take my L and go, it's not worth it to me.

the pen is decent, had a bit of trouble first getting it to write. the nib was very dry, had to give it quite a bit of shimming to open it up and have it write normally without pressure. had trouble getting it to feed right for a while, but it's good now.
i would advise against buying this pen unless you like to tinker with nibs, because the original tine gap made it basically unusable unless you put lots of pressure on it.

the actual body of the pen is lovely, still just disappointed due to my misconception about the nibs.

Out of the four pens I bought in this shipment (two more Conklins and a Visconti), this one is the one that appeals to me most. I didn't expect that. It looks more like tortoiseshell than the camouflage appearance in the photo.

Not plEased with the performance of the nib. Too dry unless the tines are spread for downward strokes.

I purchased the Earth and Water versions of the Elements pens and like both equally. The resin is deep and translucent. These pens are Duragraphs with some welcome differences, like the section being the same resin as the pen, unlike he Duragraphs use of black sections and barrel ends. Using the same resin makes for a cleaner, more finished looking pen.
The Water I ordered came with a black broad nib instead of the rose gold nib pictured, which looked out of place as the rose gold matches the trim. I ordered a new versions of flexible nib for it in rose gold, so it matches now. The Earth pen was fine with the black nib matching the trim.
The biggest complaint I have is posting the cap on the barrel, which it doesn’t do well. The ring on the end of the barrel makes the cap post very shallow, making the pen back heavy. It also posts loosely and the cap wobbles. I prefer to post my pens, but not Duragraph or Duraflex pens. If they would ditch the ring on the end of the barrel or make it flush, the problem would be minimized. Just a thought if Conklin is listening.
