Each Nahvalur Rhinoceros Skin Lacquer Special Limited Edition fountain pen features a unique color pattern that makes it a one-of-a-kind for your pen collection.

The rhinoceros skin finish is a multi-step process that begins with a base of ki urushi that provides later layers with a solid base. Urushi masters use a special tool to paint on a colored layer that clumps to make an uneven surface on the pen barrel (thick paint normally made with urushi and a bonding agent to make the urushi thicker than normal). Next, the urushi artist moves the paint around by hand to build pinnacle shapes into the material. Once the paint is dry, the pen's barrel is layered with different colors of paint and sanded to a smooth surface. As the height and the color of the paint are different on each pen, at this point they start to show their unique patterns. The colored lacquer patterns and colors are then mottled to resemble the color of rhinoceros skin, hence the name of this stunning collection, the IKKAKU by Nahvalur Rhinoceros Skin Lacquer Special Edition Limited Edition fountain pen collection.

Each Rhinocerous Skin Special LE fountain pen is fitted with a 14K Gold in-house fountain pen nib.
