The Visconti Il Magnifico Calacatta Gold fountain pens are the 7th edition in the famed Il Magnifico Collection. Calacatta Gold features a precious elegant white marble with gold nuances known as Italian Calacatta Macchia Oro marble. The rare, expensive, elegant white Carrara marble with gold veins is quarried in the Apuan Alps. The marble barrel is paired with yellow gold-plated brass trim finely engraved with the famous Florentine Lily. Each of the limited edition Il Magnifico fountain pens is fitted with an 18kt gold in-house Visconti nib and uses Visconti's famous power filler system and hook-safe lock.

Calacatta marble has been preserved throughout history for only the most prestigious projects and artworks, such as those by Michelangelo and Donatello. It is synonymous with luxury, elegance, and sophistication. In fact, its prestige is due to both its quality and rarity: its production in Carrara is limited and controlled as are all the finest products of Italy.

The Il Magnifico collection, dedicated to Lorenzo de Medici, celebrates the most powerful and enthusiastic patron of Renaissance culture in Italy during his reign as ruler of the Florentine Republic. As a patron of the arts, he is best known for his sponsorship of artists such as Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo, who, along with other great Renaissance artists, created outstanding works of both art and science by exploring nature and precious materials.

The Visconti Il Magnifico Calacatta Gold Collection is limited to 188 fountain pens (also available in rollerball). The Calacatta Gold is presented in a custom Il Magnifico limited edition box to match the pen.
