We applied a one dip test to see how far one dip could write on paper (dipping the pen into the ink only one time). Otto Hutt Gold Dust ink easily wrote across the paper on all three writing samples with medium to heavy saturation. (One dip per writing sample: \u201cS\u201d \u201cX\u201d and scribble lines, seen above). Of note is the fact that the shimmer could be seen all the way to the end of each line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Otto Hutt Gold Dust showed a dry time of approximately 9 seconds. We find this to be reasonably quick for a medium to heavy saturation shimmering ink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We saw no feathering during normal use, and just very slight feathering during the water test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Otto Hutt Gold Dust is not waterproof, and we did see medium color smearing during the water test. However, the lines were still very legible and there was almost no additional feathering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We didn’t see a lot of shading traits (not surprising with a medium to heavy saturation with very consistent application). The golden shimmer is some of the best we’ve seen. The shimmer was notably consistent and came out really nicely – especially in combination with a nib that allows ink flow variation (like a stub or italic nib or even better – a brush pen or dip pen). We were using the J Herbin spiral glass dip pen and we saw a dark red color as well as a variety of lighter shades of red and pink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
