We ran all our regular tests so you would have the different details you need to decide if this Penlux ink needs to join your collection.<\/p>\n<h2>Ink Review Testing Factors (because we&#8217;re very scientific):<\/h2>\n<p>While completing this week&#8217;s ink review, we used a J Herbin spiral glass dip pen (which has a tip similar to a medium-fine fountain pen nib) on French-made Rhodia dot pad paper. We list products we used during our weekly ink reviews here because different papers and nib sizes often produce different results. Remember that as you consider our fountain pen ink reviews (and anyone&#8217;s fountain pen ink reviews).<\/p>\n<h2>What Sort of Ink Bottle Does Penlux Use?<\/h2>\n<p>Penlux M\u00d2 Plum ink comes in a &#8220;new&#8221; standard square 50 ml. Sailor ink bottle. The bottle gives a beautiful presentation; it&#8217;s heavy-weighted and has a simple label. The box the ink arrives in is downright entertaining. Using the classic art of Origami, the box will lay completely flat then return to its original shape as a box. It&#8217;s utterly fascinating, and we&#8217;ll warn you now, you&#8217;re going to want to keep this fountain pen ink box. It&#8217;s very cool.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Does Penlux Ink Cost?<\/h2>\n<p>Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple ink is a high mid-range priced ink. Make sure to get the most economical price by taking advantage of discount pricing at Pen Chalet.<\/p>\n<h2>How Did M\u00d2 Ink Respond During the 1 Dip Test?<\/h2>\n<p>We put Penlux&#8217;s M\u00d2 Plum fountain pen ink to the test with our newest standard review rest: the 1 Dip Test. We use this test to see how far one dip can write on paper (dipping the pen in ink only once). Penlux&#8217;s M\u00d2 Plum ink easily wrote across the paper on all three writing samples. (We used one dip per writing sample). Writing samples included: S, X, and scribble lines (see the photograph of the samples above).<\/p>\n<h2>How Fast Does Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple Ink Dry?<\/h2>\n<p>Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple fountain pen ink had a dry time of approximately 4-5 seconds with medium to high saturation. The 5-second dry time is very quick, making it easy for us to recommend M\u00d2 Plum Purple fountain pen ink as an everyday home-office ink choice.<\/p>\n<h2>Does M\u00d2 Plum Purple Ink Bleed Through?<\/h2>\n<p>We saw very minimal bleeding during normal use of Penlux&#8217;s M\u00d2 Plum Purple fountain pen ink. There was some bleeding during the heavily saturated cotton swab test (at the wettest points).<\/p>\n<h2>Was There Any Feathering?<\/h2>\n<p>We saw no feathering of Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple ink during normal use and almost no additional feathering during the water test.<\/p>\n<h2>How Does Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Ink Stand Up to Water?<\/h2>\n<p>Our weekly ink review&#8217;s water test consists of letting the ink sample dry for about three minutes before running a wet cotton swab over the sample. This week&#8217;s ink is not waterproof, but we put it to the water test anyway. (We like to include it anyway to see how inks fare). During the water test, Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple ink only had light color smearing. The lines were still legible. All in all, its performance during the water test wasn&#8217;t bad for a dark ink.<\/p>\n<h2>Does M\u00d2 Plum Purple Fountain Pen Ink Have Good Shading Traits?<\/h2>\n<p>Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple ink has some possible shading traits if you&#8217;re working with a nib that allows ink flow variation (like a stub or italic nib). In addition to which type of nib you are working with, your handwriting can also make a difference when you&#8217;re looking for good shading traits with a fountain pen ink. Lines were pretty consistent, though, without a lot of shading due to the ink&#8217;s dark shade and medium to high saturation.<\/p>\n<h2>Final Conclusion on Penlux M\u00d2 Plum Purple Ink:<\/h2>\n<p>M\u00d2 Plum Purple is at the higher end of the mid-range priced fountain pen inks currently available. The lovely, dark and unique purple plum color is different than a lot of purple inks on the market.<\/p>\n<p>Made by well-regarded ink company, Sailor, the Penlux M\u00d2 ink series inks come in a large 50 ml. bottle and an interesting and fun box that we find utterly fascinating. The ink performs well, showing a quick dry time (4-5 seconds). Another high-performance ink safe for fountain pens in the highly admired Penlux M\u00d2 ink series, we suggest considering Plum Purple for a wide variety of projects and pens. The color is both unique and versatile, and the quality is exemplary.
