Continue reading to get all the beautiful little details.<\/p>\n<h2>Ink Review Testing Factors (to keep things scientific):<\/h2>\n<p>Each week we list the \u201ccontrols\u201d in our review\/experiment in this section. For instance, while reviewing Van Dieman\u2019s Tasmania Vine Purple fountain pen ink, we used a J Herbin spiral glass dip pen (with a tip similar to a fine-medium fountain pen nib) on Rhodia dot pad paper. Remember, different papers and nib sizes may produce different results!<\/p>\n<h2>What Sort of Ink Bottle Does Van Dieman\u2019s Use?<\/h2>\n<p>Van Dieman\u2019s ink is 30 ml. and comes in a glass ink bottle. We appreciated the unique, pear-shaped bottle design with the front of the bottle jutting out to make it easy to get to every last drop of beautiful ink. The Van Dieman\u2019s packaging is simple but nice with the ink color is clearly labeled.<\/p>\n<h2>How Much Does Van Dieman\u2019s Ink Cost?<\/h2>\n<p>Van Dieman\u2019s ink is a reasonably priced fountain pen ink for the 30 ml. quantity (and considering that the popular inks are directly imported from Australia). Even more exciting, you can find discounted pricing at Pen Chalet.<\/p>\n<h2>How Did Van Dieman\u2019s Tasmania Vine Purple Ink Handle the 1 Dip Test?<\/h2>\n<p>Van Dieman\u2019sTasmania Vine Purple fountain pen ink performed well during our newest test, the 1 Dip Test. We use the one dip test to see how far one dip could write on paper. Dipping the pen into Van Dieman\u2019sTasmania Vine Purple ink one time, we were able to write across the paper on all three writing samples very easily. We used one dip per writing sample. Writing samples included: S, X, and scribble lines (see the photograph of the samples above).<\/p>\n<h2>How Fast Does Tasmania Vine Purple Ink Dry?<\/h2>\n<p>Van Dieman\u2019s Tasmania Vine Purple fountain pen ink had a dry time of approximately 6-7 seconds with medium to high saturation. We thought this was a very reasonable dry time. Since we consider fountain pen inks with a dry time under 10 seconds to be reasonably fast, we\u2019d recommend Tasmania Vine Purple ink as an everyday ink option.<\/p>\n<h2>Does Van Dieman\u2019s Tasmania Vine Purple Ink Bleed Through?<\/h2>\n<p>During normal use of Tasmania Vine Purple fountain pen ink, we saw slight bleed through with slightly more bleeding during the heavy saturated cotton swab test, especially at the wettest points.<\/p>\n<h2>Was There Any Feathering While Using Tasmania Vine Purple Ink?<\/h2>\n<p>During normal use on Rhodia paper, we saw no feathering. We saw almost no additional feathering during the water test.<\/p>\n<h2>How Does Tasmania Vine Purple Ink Stand Up to Water?<\/h2>\n<p>This week\u2019s ink is not a waterproof fountain pen ink. However, we always include a water test in the review. (For the water test, we let an ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before running a wet cotton swab over the sample). After putting Tasmania Vine Purple ink to the water test, we saw light color smearing, which is very reasonable for a dark purple ink color. The lines were very legible and clear, with only some very slight distortion and fading after the water test.<\/p>\n<h2>Does Tasmania Vine Purple Ink Have Good Shading Traits?<\/h2>\n<p>While reviewing Van Dieman\u2019s Tasmania Vine Purple ink, we saw some slight possible shading traits when using the ink with a nib that allows ink flow variation like a stub or italic nib.<\/p>\n<h2>Final Conclusion on Van Dieman\u2019s Tasmania Vine Purple Ink:<\/h2>\n<p>While Van Dieman\u2019s is new to Pen Chalet, the Australian ink manufacturer is well established in the industry and has a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penchalet.com\/ink_refills\/fountain_pen_ink\/\">popular fountain pen inks<\/a> available. This week\u2019s ink from their Original Fourteen Colours of Tasmania Ink Series, Tasmania Vine Purple, has enjoyed extensive popularity during the short time it has spent on Pen Chalet shelves.<\/p>\n<p>Available in the smaller, 30 ml. bottle, this reasonably priced ink is a sultry, dark mountain purple ink color with a very reasonable dry time (6-7 seconds) that makes it an appropriate everyday ink choice for the home or office.
