The new Ukiyo-e Ink Series comes in two sub-set series: 1) Hokusai Series (Japanese Landscape Series) and 2) Sharaku Series (Facial-Character Series). Both the Hokusai and Sharaku Series include four different ink colors for a total of 8 inks included in the full Ukiyo-e ink line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All Taccia inks are made in Japan, and they are also all safe for use with fountain pens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All About This Week\u2019s Chosen Ink: Taccia Sabimidori Ink<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taccia Sabimidori Fountain Pen Ink is included in the Hokusai subseries (Japanese Landscape). This fountain pen ink is a particularly unique color. The ink goes down in a medium to high saturation and shows as blue-grey turning into a rust green color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Taccia\u2019s Sabimidori ink dries, you\u2019ll notice it changes to a blue-green-grey color. You\u2019ll also see blue undertones come out when you get the ink wet. Wet lines dried a deep mountain green\/grey color, and the lighter lines dried a blue\/grey color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taccia\u2019s packaging is very professional \u2013 we\u2019d go so far as to categorize their packaging as fantastic. On top of being clean and professional, Taccia includes internal protection for their inks, which is always appreciated for anyone ordering ink online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hokusai Series (Japanese Landscape series) packaging includes a lovely Japanese landscape design (you see what they did there) with different depictions of Mount Fuji. The Sharaku Series (Japanese Characters) packaging includes images of traditional Japanese caricatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Fast Does Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori Fountain Pen Ink Dry?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori fountain pen ink had a dry time of approximately 12-13 seconds during our ink review with medium to high saturation. Definitely a longer dry time in comparison to other inks on the market, the Taccia ink may not be a common everyday ink option for most fountain pen users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori Fountain Pen Ink Bleed Through?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During normal use of Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori fountain pen ink, we saw no bleeding. During the heavy saturated cotton swab test, we did see some very slight bleeding, but only at the wettest points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was There Any Feathering While Using Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori Fountain Pen Ink? <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During normal use, we saw no feathering. We only saw slight feathering during the water test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Does Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori Fountain Pen Ink Stand Up to Water?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While this week\u2019s ink is not a waterproof fountain pen ink, we did include a water test in the review. (For the water test, we let an ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before running a wet cotton swab over the sample). The water test resulted in significant blue color smearing and slight feathering, but the lines were still legible.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori Fountain Pen Ink Have Good Shading Traits?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you have a nib that allows good ink flow variation<\/a> (like the stub or italic nib), Taccia Ukiyo-e Hokusai Sabimidori fountain pen ink has some nice shading traits. You can see a rust green-grey color to a blue-grey color with a few more shades in between. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
