We used the latter for this review. Both ink bottles used in Platinum’s Mixable ink line have a large mouth lid providing easy access. All Mixable inks from Platinum come with easy to read packaging and easy to follow “recipes” for making your own ink creations and new ink colors.<\/p>\n

How Fast Does Platinum Silky Purple Mixable Fountain Pen Ink Dry?<\/h2>\n
Platinum Silky Purple Mixable fountain pen ink had a dry time of approximately 3 seconds during our ink review. In case you weren’t sure, this dry time is very fast. We typically consider any dry time from 7-8 seconds as reasonable for everyday use. So, with a 3-second dry time, we would consider Platinum’s Silky Purple Mixable fountain pen ink what you might call almost “unreasonably” reasonable. We aren’t sure how fast the ink would dry after mixing in other Platinum Mixable ink colors, so keep in mind that different variations and mixes could alter these results.<\/p>\n
Does Platinum Silky Purple Mixable Fountain Pen Ink Bleed Through?<\/h2>\n
During normal use, we saw no bleeding. (Again, these results were seen when using the Platinum Mixable ink on Rhodia dot pad paper). At the most saturated point of the cotton swab test, we saw some bleeding, but only at the wettest points of the test.<\/p>\n
Was There Any Feathering While Using Platinum Silky Purple Mixable Ink?
\nDuring normal use, we saw no feathering. When we Platinum’s Silky Purple Mixable ink to the water test, there was moderate feathering, but it’s not waterproof, so we expected that.<\/p>\n
How Does Platinum Silky Purple Mixable Ink Stand Up to Water?<\/h2>\n
We included a water test in the review of Platinum Silky Purple Mixable ink. (For the water test, we let an ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before running a wet cotton swab over the sample). The water test resulted in significant color smearing and some feathering, but the lines were still legible. (To be clear, the water test results were typical since Silky Purple is not a waterproof ink).<\/p>\n
Does Platinum Silky Purple Mixable Ink Have Good Shading or Sheening Traits?
\nPlatinum Silky Purple Mixable ink has some slight shading traits if you are using a nib that allows ink flow variation (like a stub or italic nib). We saw lighter, bright purple to a deeper, vibrant purple color. During the ink review, we also noticed a slight green sheen on very saturated points.<\/p>\n
