For our review of Lamy Crystal Amazonite ink, we used a French-made J Herbin spiral glass dip pen on Rhodia dot pad paper<\/a>. Lamy created a brand new ink bottle for their Crystal line of inks. Each of Lamy\u2019s Crystal inks come in a beautiful, heavy-weighted, triangular 30 ml. glass bottle with rounded edges. The bottle arrives in a professional-looking cardboard box, clearly reflecting the color of the ink inside. The packaging is well designed and includes a built-in internal structure to protect the ink bottle in transit and storage. The new bottle design also includes a new Lamy Crystal ink lid. A crystal embossed, large-mouthed, aluminum lid is housed on top of a plastic liner. In addition to providing extra protection, the plastic liner is actually the color of the ink inside the bottle.<\/p>\n

How Much Does Lamy Crystal Ink Cost?<\/h2>\n

Lamy Crystal Amazonite ink is slightly more expensive than Lamy\u2019s regular ink line, but it\u2019s available at Pen Chalet at a discounted price, so don\u2019t despair. At our discount pricing, Lamy Crystal Ink is a low mid-ranged ink option.<\/p>\n

How Fast Does Lamy Crystal Amazonite Fountain Pen Ink Dry?<\/h2>\n

Lamy Crystal Amazonite fountain pen ink had a quick dry time during out review, approximately 5 seconds. We generally consider any dry time under 10 seconds as reasonable for everyday use. So we feel comfortable recommending Lamy\u2019s Crystal Amazonite ink as an everyday ink option.<\/p>\n

Does Lamy Crystal Amazonite Fountain Pen Ink Bleed Through?<\/h2>\n

During normal use, we saw no bleeding. (Again, these results were seen when using the Lamy Crystal Amazonite ink on Rhodia dot pad paper). At the most saturated point of the cotton swab test, we only saw slight bleeding.<\/p>\n

Was There Any Feathering While Using Lamy Crystal Amazonite Ink?<\/h2>\n

During normal use, we saw no feathering. When we put Lamy\u2019s Crystal Amazonite ink to the water test, there was only slight feathering. Since it\u2019s not a waterproof ink, that\u2019s completely normal.<\/p>\n

How Does Lamy Crystal Amazonite Ink Stand Up to Water?<\/h2>\n

We included a water test in the review of Lamy Crystal Amazonite ink. (For the water test, we let an ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before running a wet cotton swab over the sample). The water test resulted in some color smearing and slight additional feathering, as well as some slight line distortion and fading. The water test results were typical for a non-waterproof ink.<\/p>\n

Does Lamy Crystal Amazonite Ink Have Good Shading or Sheening Traits?<\/h2>\n

Lamy Crystal Amazonite ink has a lot of shading potential from deep dark teal to light turquoise blue. During our ink review, we even saw some unintentional red metallic sheen. The sheening occurred during the most saturated points of the cotton swab test.<\/p>\n
