Diamine Honey Burst Ink<\/strong> is a recent release from Diamine’s new Guitar Series. The new Diamine Guitar Series<\/a> includes five colors named after the famous and very collectible Gibson Les Paul Guitars.\u00a0First produced by Gibson in the early 1950’s many Gibson Les Paul Guitars, including the 1959 version, now sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.\u00a0Diamine Ink Company<\/a> originally produced a new series of inks based on the finishes of the iconic guitars, but the series’ release was limited to the German market. That is until demand forced the company to reconsider.<\/p>\n

Now Diamine Ink Company is allowing all its retailers, including Pen Chalet, to sell the new Diamine Guitar inks to the US market. The set includes Diamine Honey Burst, Cherry Sunburst, Desert Burst, Tobacco Sunburst, and Pelham Blue. During the Pen Chalet ink review, we found that the Diamine Honey Burst ink is a nice, soft, honey-orange color. It’s quite pleasing and surprisingly dark.\u00a0The light honey color is unique and inviting.\u00a0Diamine Ink Company is very prolific in its ink creations, which isn’t surprising since they have been around since 1864. All Diamine inks are made in the UK.<\/p>\n

Diamine Honey Burst Ink Review<\/p><\/div>\n

During Pen Chalet’s review of Diamine Honey Burst ink, we found the following characteristics that you may find helpful when purchasing your next ink:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We used a J. Herbin glass dip pen on Rhodia dot pad paper for our review of Diamine Honey Burst ink.\u00a0The glass dip pen has a dip that is similar to a fine-medium fountain pen tip. Please note that different pens and paper will produce different results.<\/p>\n

Bottle Size<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Diamine Honey Burst ink comes in a large 80 ml. glass bottle.\u00a0The distinctive bottle is made just for Diamine, with the custom design allowing users to place it on multiple sides to collect every last drop of ink.\u00a0The bottle has a smooth medium sized lid.\u00a0All Diamine guitar series inks are also available in a smaller 30 ml. size plastic bottle. You can also order Pen Chalet’s 4 ml. sample vial if you’d like to try it before purchasing the full-size bottle.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Diamine Honey Burst ink retails in the USA for $15.00 for the large 80 ml. glass bottle and $7.50 for the small 30 ml. plastic bottle.\u00a0The price point makes Diamine Honey Burst ink a very reasonable, and even economical ink purchase.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During our review of Diamine Honey Burst ink, we found the dry time of approximately 6-7 seconds reasonable.\u00a0Anything under about 10 seconds makes the ink functional as an everyday ink option.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During our review of Diamine Honey Burst ink, we found absolutely no bleeding using Rhodia paper.\u00a0Even during our cotton swab test where we place a large amount of ink on paper, there was no bleeding.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During our review of Diamine Honey Honey Burst ink, normal use resulted in no feathering at all.\u00a0Our water test did result in some very slight feathering, but this is not unusual for non-waterproof ink.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We ran a soaking wet cotton swab over a sample of Diamine Honey Burst ink for about 3 minutes. The water test resulted in light yellow color smearing, very slight feathering, but no bleeding. The lines remained very legible throughout the water test and did not fade away.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With the right penmanship and writing instrument, Diamine Honey Burst ink shades wonderfully with colors ranging from a darker burnt orange to a light soft yellow-orange and a few muted shades of orange in between.<\/p>\n

Diamine Ink Company has been producing high quality, low priced inks for over 150 years.\u00a0The Diamine Guitar series of inks sparks our imagination of Rock and Roll’s birth and heyday with its Les Paul Gibson Guitar inspired ink colors.\u00a0Diamine Honey Burst ink is a beautiful dark orange shade that has some nice shading ability and reasonable dry time.
