Krishna Anokhi Ink is one of ten\u00a0Krishna RC series of inks that have been produced by Dr. Sreekumar in his home country of India. The RC series of inks are meant to be super sheening or as he phrases it \u201csheentastic\u201d inks.<\/p>\n

Anokhi means \u201cunique\u201d, which this ink truly is, Krishna Anokhi ink does not disappoint.\u00a0One of four purple-based colors in Krishna\u2019s RC ink<\/a> series, the Anokhi ink has a violet base color with a green metallic sheen. The ink has a nice light to dark purple shade and each color variation is based upon the size of nib, paper, application and whether your use a heavy or light hand. Krishna Anokhi ink is fun to play and experiment with.<\/span><\/p>\n

We carry all Krishna ink colors in each of the various series, such as the standard Krishna Super Rich Series<\/a>, Kot Massi and RC. Dr. Shreekumar is not complacent and continues to produce new and exciting colors, adding to his ever-increasing variety. During our review of Krishna Anokhi ink we noticed the following characteristics that you may find helpful in choosing your next ink color.<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

We used a J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen on French made Rhodia dot pad paper for our review of Krishna Anokhi ink. The glass dip pen has a tip that is similar to a fine fountain pen nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Krishna Anokhi ink comes in a simple standard 20 ml. glass Krishna ink bottle. The bottle is small yet functional with a simple label and even simpler packaging, many times with the color of the ink handwritten on the box. The presentation isn\u2019t up to par with a Pelikan Edelstein ink<\/a>, but neither is the price, which remains low and affordable.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Krishna Anokhi ink is economically priced at $9.00 per 20 ml. bottle. This is very reasonable understanding that each bottle is imported from India. The lower priced (non-mega sheening inks) in the Krishna Super Rich Series are priced at $8.00 per 20 ml. bottle.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

During our review of Krishna Anokhi ink we experienced a dry time of approcimately 5 seconds, which was great for a highly saturated mega sheeninig ink. We did use the thinnest lines we could using the glass dip pen. Larger nibs, which will produce wetter lines may have a longer dry time.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

There was no bleeding while testing Krishna Anokhi ink using the glass dip pen and the cotton swab on Rhodia paper.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Rhodia is a high quality paper and rarely does ink feather during normal use. Our review of Krishna Anokhi ink produced the same results. No feathering at all during normal use. However, during our water test we did notice some feathering.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

Krishna Anokhi ink is a non-waterproof water-based ink. During our water test, where we run a water soaked cotton swab over an ink sample that has dried for about 3 minutes, we found significant color smearing. This is not unusual and some slight line distortion at the wettest points.<\/p>\n

Shading & Sheening<\/h2>\n

Krishna Anokhi ink is a mega sheening ink, which produces some nice shading as well within the purple color of the ink. Combined with the metallic green sheen and purple ink color that can produce light to very dark, almost black color. The bottom line is you don\u2019t really know what to expect color wise from this ink with the wide range of shading as well as the sheen. This makes Anokhi a fun and \u201cunique\u201d ink as its name suggests.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the\u00a0Krishna Anokhi ink<\/h2>\n

Krishna Anokhi ink is another great mega sheening ink, not in the same category of a Organics Studio mega sheening ink such as Walden Blue, Blue Nitrogen or Santiago\u2019s Sea Blue, but its still super easy to get lots of sheen out of it. As with any mega sheening ink or other highly saturated inks, please take extra care when using such inks. We suggest you clean your fountain pens regularly and thoroughly every comply of weeks to avoid any unwanted clogging. Using a cleaning solution such as our Fountain Pen Flush makes this task much easier. Krishna Anokhi ink is unique, fun to use, has great variety built into the ink and is very affordable.
