The Leuchtturm 1917<\/a> Notebooks are available in both hard or soft covers and they come in a wide variety of colors. There are also two sizes to choose from; the Pocket A6 and the Medium A5, each of which come in dotted or ruled pages.<\/p>\n

For this review, we used a Navy Blue A5 Hardcover Leuchtturm 1917 Notebook<\/a>. In the front of the notebook is a Table of Contents that you can use to organize your notes. Don’t worry about numbering your pages, as that is another great benefit of the Leuchtturm; the pages are already numbered! Also included, is a ribbon to mark your place. There are archival stickers to label the spine of your notebook, as well. In addition, there is a nifty back pocket that opens\u00a0allowing for\u00a0small storage.<\/p>\n

A key part to the performance of your fountain pens is the paper you use. Therefore, we ran a couple of tests to see how the Leuchtturm 1917 Notebook would perform while in use. We\u00a0used five nib sizes, and five different brands of ink,\u00a0testing\u00a0each one on the paper. During these tests, we experienced no bleed through on any of the nib sizes\u00a0from fine to 1.9mm stub. We did, however, experience some show-through on the back of the paper with the 1.9mm test. In addition, we made droplets of each ink on the bottom of the page, to test how resistant the pages are to ink splatters and spills. Only two of the inks bled through – the Pelikan Edelstein Amethyst, and the Namiki Iroshizuku Take-Sumi – although, we experienced show-through on each of the inks due to the large pooling of ink.<\/p>\n
