Kobe Suwayama\u00a0Leaf Green Ink is now in stock and available at Pen Chalet. Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink is one of a number of Kobe inks formerly only available in Japan, that are now available in the United States.<\/p>\n

Kobe ink<\/a>, named after the city Kobe Japan, was created by Sailor<\/a> for\u00a0the renowned stationery store located there, Nagasawa. The Kobe inks have been a favorite among fine writing lovers for their wide array of colors and great characteristics.<\/p>\n

Kobe Suwayama Leaf Green ink is a nice green color that is vibrant and bright but not florescent. The color of new fresh spring leaves. Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink shows up dark enough on white paper to be used as an every day ink in both the office and home environment.<\/p>\n

We noticed the following characteristics while testing Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink that we hope you find helpful:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

For our review of Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink we used a French made J. Herbin spiral glass dip pen on Rhodia dot pad paper. The J. Rhodia dip pen has a tip that is equivalent to a fine fountain pen nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink is available in a standard 50 ml. Kobe glass bottle, which is similar to a Sailor Jentle ink<\/a> bottle. The bottle comes with a large opening and lid, which is very conducive to filling any size fountain pen. The ink bottle can be tipped on its side in order to obtain those last few drops. The bottle comes in a standard cardboard box, which has unique Japanese symbols and English lettering along with the distinctive Kobe skyline features located in Japan.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Kobe Suwayama Leaf Green ink is more expensive than normal Sailor ink bottles and retails for $30.00. This price point makes Kobe ink at the luxury end of the spectrum, although not the most expensive on the market today.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

We found a dry time of approximately 4-5 seconds during our review of Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink. This is a very quick dry time, allowing Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink to be used in almost any setting. With a larger tip or fountain pen nib, you could expect a longer dry time.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

Another great characteristics of Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink is that there is absolutely no bleeding, even during the cotton swab test.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

During normal use, we did not experience any feathering while using Kobe Suwayama\u00a0 Leaf Green ink. However, during the water test, some feathering was experienced at the test\u2019s wettest point.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

During our water test, where we run a wet cotton swab over a an ink sample that has dried for about 3 minutes, we noticed some feathering at the wettest point of the test. The remainder of the Kobe Leaf Green ink sample stayed true and lines were distinct, even though there was significant color smearing. Kobe\u00a0Suwayama Leaf Green ink is not a waterproof ink.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

Another great characteristic of Kobe ink is its shading. Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink will produce some very nice shading, with a dark evergreen color wet lines to a light leafy green dryer lines. The combination can be quite amazing. We also saw a slight dark purple sheen come through at the cotton swab test\u2019s wettest point.<\/p>\n

In Conclusion about the\u00a0Kobe Suwayama Leaf Green Ink<\/h2>\n

Kobe #35 Leaf Green ink is another great ink option. Although Kobe ink produces over 50 ink colors,\u00a0currently only about 20 colors have been made available by the US distributor.\u00a0 We are hoping more colors\u00a0will be on their way.<\/p>\n
