Monteverde Erinite Ink is one of the new Monteverde Gemstone collection ink<\/a> colors released in 2017. These new World of Color inks include Garnett, Topaz, Charoite, Fireopal, Sapphire, Ruby, Olivine, Amethyst and Moonstone.<\/p>\n

Monteverde Ernite Ink Bottle<\/p><\/div>\n

Each bottle of Monteverde Erinite ink, contains Monteverde\u2019s ITF technology, which allows for a quick dry time, great ink flow, it lubricates the feeding system and allows for an extended cap-off time. Monteverde Erinite ink is a nice light green color, which occurs in nature as a micro-crystalline mineral created by the arsenical copper ores becoming oxidized. The name itself gives away the color: \u201cErin\u201dite, refers to Ireland, which makes it easy to remember it is a green color. Just think leprechaun! Monteverde Erinite ink is a nice new color from Monteverde, which is manufactured in Europe and packaged in America.<\/p>\n

Please note the following characteristics we found while testing Monteverde Erinite ink that you may find useful:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

For this review we used French made Rhodia dot pad paper with a J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Monteverde continues to produce their bottled inks in a large 90 ml. glass bottle. This distinctive bottle is unique to Monteverde<\/a>. Recently, Monteverde has released a smaller 30 ml. glass bottle. This sized bottle is less expensive and ideal for sampling more ink colors. Monteverde Erinite ink also comes in a 12 pack of standard international ink cartridges.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Monteverde Erinite ink retails at $15.00 for the large 90 ml. glass bottle. The smaller 30 ml. bottle sales for $8.00. These prices make Monteverde ink an economy priced ink, especially for the super large 90 ml. glass bottle. At this price it costs about the same as most mid ranged inks that come in much smaller bottles.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

During this review with the paper and pen used, we experienced a 6-7 second dry time. This is fairly quick and reasonable enough for daily use.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

We did not experience any bleeding during normal use with Monteverde Erinite ink. However, at the wettest part of the cotton swab test, we did notice a small amount of bleed through with the swab.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Using Monteverde Erinite ink during normal use we did not experience any feathering. However, during the water test, at the wettest points, some feathering was very noticeable.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

Our water test consists of letting a Monteverde Erinite ink sample dry for about 3 minutes, then we run a soaking wet cotton swab over the sample. During the wettest points, there was significant feathering, but after the swabbed dried just a bit, there was very little feathering noticed. Additionally, although Monteverde Erinite ink is not waterproof, there was not as much color smearing as with most non-waterproof inks.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

Monteverde Erinite ink does produce some nice shading, with a darker green to light depending on the wetness of ones strokes and nib used, etc.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the Monteverde Erinite Ink<\/h2>\n

Monteverde Erinite ink is a nice dark mint or light emerald green color that makes you think of the wonders of Ireland: its green beauty, St. Patrick\u2019s Day, and leprechauns. Monteverde Erinite ink has nice characteristics, fast drying, held up reasonably well under the water test and is just a fun vibrant color that would be great for home, journal and note taking.<\/p>\n
