Monteverde Amethyst Ink Bottle<\/p><\/div>\n

Each Monteverde Gemstone ink colors come with Monteverde\u2019s ITF technology. This allows for extended cap off time, lubricates the ink feeding system, allows for quicker dry time and better ink flow. Monteverde Amethyst ink is a beautiful true dark purple ink<\/a> that has a slight blue sheen to the color. Monteverde ink is well regarded in the fountain pen community, and is manufactured in the EU, but packaged in the USA.<\/p>\n

Monteverde Amethyst Ink<\/p><\/div>\n

We experienced the following characteristics while testing Monteverde Amethyst ink that you may find useful, when shopping for your next ink:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

For this review we used Rhodia dot pad paper with a J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Monteverde ink comes in two glass bottle sizes. The larger 90 ml. bottle and a newer smaller size, a 30 ml. glass bottle. Of course each Monteverde fountain pen ink<\/a> comes in a 12 pack ink cartridge option.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Monteverde Amethyst ink is considered a good value economical ink. For the large 90 ml. glass bottle it retails for $15.00. The smaller 30 ml. glass bottle retails for $8.00, making the smaller sized bottle a great option for trying out new ink colors, but still receiving a pretty standard amount of ink.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

One of the great characteristics of using Monteverde inks is its ITF characteristics, which allows for a quicker dry time. We found a quick dry time of approximately 6-7 using Monteverde Amethyst ink, which makes it feasible as an every day ink.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

We didn\u2019t experience any bleeding during regular use with the dip pen using Rhodia dot pad paper.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

During normal use we did not notice any feathering while using Monteverde Amethyst ink. However, during the water test, some feathering was experienced, especially at its wettest part.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

We let a ink sample dry for approximately 3 minutes, then ran a wet cotton swab over the sample. This test produced some feathering, color smearing and some sheening and color distortion. This is not a water proof ink.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

Monteverde Amethyst ink will produce some nice shading, with the slight sheening. Dark purple to a lighter shade with a dryer ink stroke.<\/p>\n

Saturation<\/h2>\n

Monteverde Amethyst ink has good saturation. During our saturation test, where one dip of ink is used to produce one sample line, the ink held up really well. The ink made it across the entire page without any loss of color or drying out.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the\u00a0Monteverde Amethyst ink<\/h2>\n

In short, Monteverde Amethyst ink is a good value and is priced right with various ink purchase options. It has good saturation, yet quick dry time with nice color characteristics. Monteverde Amethyst ink is a great new addition to Monteverde\u2019s World of ink.<\/p>\n
