Platinum Lavender Black Ink is one of the new classic ink colors recently released by Platinum pen and Ink Company<\/a>. Platinum\u2019s classic ink collection is a set of 6 new ink colors which are manufactured using time honored traditional methods using iron and plant materials for its ink dye formula. These classic ink colors are water soluble beautiful colors, which have a unique trait of each being applied to paper one color, but growing darker as it dries.<\/p>\n

Platinum Lavender Black Ink Bottle<\/p><\/div>\n

Platinum Lavender Black ink is one of these new colors. When first put to paper the ink is a bright vibrant purple color. As it dries, the oxidation of the ink changes the ink to a darker beautiful plumb color ink. The newly oxidized ink color then is water and light resistant. The color is unique. Not a true purple, but a pleasant shade with some pink hues that is dark for everyday writing. Platinum Lavender Black ink is an imported ink from Japan.<\/p>\n

We found the following Characteristics while testing Platinum Lavender Black ink, that you may find helpful.<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

For this review we used a J. Herbin glass dip pen on French made<\/a> Rhodia dotpad paper. The dip pen has a tip that is similar to a fine fountain pen nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Size<\/h2>\n

All Platinum classic inks<\/a>, including Platinum Lavender Black ink come in a standard sized 60 ml. glass ink bottle. The bottle\u2019s shape is unique as it is a square shaped bottom with rounded sides. Each ink bottle comes with an internal reservoir included by Platinum, allowing the user to grasp those last few drops of ink.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Platinum Lavender Black ink retails for $25.00, but is available at Pen Chalet for a reduced price of $20.00 per bottle. This is more expensive than the standard Platinum inks, but the manufacturing of the classic inks is more time consuming and expensive.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

Platinum Lavender Black ink had a dry time of approximately 6-7 seconds under normal use with the glass dip pen on Rhodia paper. This is pretty reasonable for everyday use ink.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

We experienced absolutely no bleeding while using Platinum Lavender Black ink during normal use and under the cotton swab test.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Under normal use with the glass dip pen on Rhodia dotpad paper, we did not experience any feathering. The Platinum Lavender Black ink sample lines were clear and crisp. However, during the water test, there was some feathering.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

During our water test, we ran a water soaked cotton swab over a sample of dried Platinum Lavender Black ink. This test produced some light color smearing, feathering and line distortion, but only at the wettest points. For the most part the lines remained clear and distinct with a light color smear. Platinum Lavender Black ink is not waterproof, but it is slightly water resistant.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

Platinum Lavender Black ink does have some nice shading characteristics. The light purple with a pink hue comes out with the drier lines, with a deep plumb purple color with the wet thick lines. Platinum Lavender Black ink produces a very nice shading combination.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the Platinum Lavender Black Ink<\/h2>\n

Overall, Platinum Lavender Black ink is a beautiful color, with nice characteristics. It\u2019s unique and fun to use with its color changing characteristics. The price is in the mid to upper range of inks, but with the discounted price you can find at Pen Chalet, makes it more affordable. Happy writing at home and work.<\/p>\n
