However, J Herbin Violette Pensee ink stays true to traditional\u00a0purple.<\/p>\n

Similar to Montegrappa Violet ink in color and shade, the\u00a0J Herbin Violette Pensee ink lighter than\u00a0Diamine Imperial Purple ink and not as bright as Visconti Purple ink. It is a nice shade that shows up well on paper and has good saturation and other characteristics as outlined below. J Herbin Violette Pensee ink is a nice everyday purple color from the worlds oldest ink company located in France.<\/span><\/p>\n

While testing J Herbin Violette Pensee ink ink we found the following traits, which you may find helpful:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

For this review we used a J Herbin glass dip pen on French made Rhodia Bloc N. 18 paper. The dip pen has a tip that is equivalent to a fine fountain pen nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

J Herbin inks<\/a> come in a variety of sizes that fit all needs and budgets. The most popular size is the standard J Herbin glass 30 ml. bottle. It has a unique shape\u00a0with a pen holder built into the bottle. J Herbin ink company has also produced two additional sizes, a small trial sized 10 ml. glass bottle, great for travel and sampling purposes, and a large economy sized plastic 100 ml. bottle.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

J Herbin Violette Pensee ink is a great value economy ink. This is amazing due to the fact that it comes from the oldest ink company in the world and it is imported from France. J Herbin Violette Pensee ink retails for $6.00 (10 ml. glass bottle); $10.00 (30 ml. glass bottle) and $26.00 (100 ml. plastic bottle).<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

J Herbin Violette Pensee ink has a very fast dry time of approximately 3-4 seconds when using the glass dip pen. You may experience a slightly longer dry time with a larger nib, but can expect a fairly reasonable dry time regardless of which nib you happen to use.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

J Herbin Violette Pensee ink produced absolutely no bleeding, even during the cotton swab test, where we dipped a cotton swab completely in the ink bottle and produced multiple lines.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

During normal use we found absolutely no feathering with the dip pen on Rhodia paper. During the water test, we noticed slight feathering, but only at the wettest points of the test.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

We conducted a water test where we ran a wet cotton swab over a dried J Herbin Violette Pensee ink sample. The test produced some color smearing, slight feathering, but no bleeding and the lines remained clear and distinct for the most part. Although this ink is not water proof, it held up pretty well under the water test.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

J Herbin Violette Pensee ink will produce some nice shading with proper use. It has some darker purple traits with the wettest lines and a light purple shade with each dryer line.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the\u00a0J Herbin Violette Pensee ink<\/h2>\n

J Herbin Violette Pensee ink is a great value, lots of options for size and price. The color is a fantastic purple color that dries quickly and holds up well. This color of ink is dark enough to be used as an everyday ink, in the office or at home for journal and letter writing. J Herbin ink company<\/a> has proven itself through its amazing longevity that it has and will continue to produce some fantastic inks loved by the fine writing community.<\/p>\n
