Robert Oster Orange Ink is one of the few names Robert Oster has kept simple and generic. No play on words or reference to Australia\u00a0with\u00a0this orange ink. Simply put, the\u00a0ink is fantastic just as it is and needs no further explanation or exaggeration.<\/p>\n

Robert Oster Orange Ink Bottle<\/p><\/div>\n

There are lots of orange inks on the market. Some are light while others are dark. Some have other colors mixed within the ink such as red or brown. We have recently reviewed Robert Oster Red Orange ink<\/a> and Robert Oster Tangerine ink<\/a>, both of which are wonderful variations of the color orange. However, if you are looking for a true bright vibrant orange colored ink, look no further than Robert Oster Orange ink.<\/p>\n

Other wonderful orange inks include\u00a0Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin ink<\/a> and Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake ink<\/a>. Both are a true orange, have good characteristics and are popular within the orange ink crowd. However, with a deep true orange color and high saturation that shows superbly, Robert Oster Orange ink is possibly the head of its class.<\/p>\n

We found the following characteristics while reviewing Robert Oster Orange ink, which you may find useful:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

We used Rhodia Bloc paper with a J. Herbin glass dip pen for this review of Robert Oster Orange ink. The dip pen has a tip that is equivalent to a fine nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster inks come in a standard 50 ml. plastic bottle. Each bottle has a white label on the\u00a0lid identifying the color of ink inside along with a small blot of the actual ink inside.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster Orange ink is a mid priced fountain pen ink that retails for $16.00. However, the US retail price is slated to increase soon to $17.00 per 50 ml. bottle.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster Orange ink has a high saturation, which makes the dry time extend to 7-8 seconds. This is is longer than some other orange colored inks on the market. However, the high saturation also provide for a clarity that is not always common with a light colored ink such as orange. We feel this makes the dry time well worth the wait.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

We did not experience any bleeding during normal use with the Robert Oster Orange ink. During the cotton swab test we found a very slight bleeding but only on the wettest ink portion of the sample.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster Orange ink did not produce any feathering at all during normal use. The sample lines were clear and crisp. During the water test however, we did experience some feathering and color smearing. This however, is expected with non-water proof inks.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

We conducted a water test where we ran a wet cotton swab over various ink samples that had dried for 3 minutes. This test showed significant color smearing, some feathering and line distortion. Robert Oster Orange ink is not waterproof or water resistant ink.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

We didn\u2019t experience much shading using Robert Oster Orange ink during normal due to the high saturation and an even disbursement of ink using the dip pen. With a wider nib, such as a stub nib, you will experience some slight shading, but not as much as with other Robert Oster inks.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the Robert Oster Orange Ink<\/h2>\n

For those looking for a bright vibrant orange colored ink, Robert Oster Orange ink is a wonderful option. It\u2019s a mid-priced ink\u00a0that has high saturation allowing the orange to really pop on paper. It has a reasonable dry time, although not as fast as other orange ink colors. This is a good option if you need a nice vibrant true orange ink for journal, notes, letters or other types of written projects where orange is required or preferred.<\/p>\n
