Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink is part of the\u00a0Organics Studio Masters of Writing<\/a> Series. Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe is a dark brown-red colored ink that shows really well on paper and has medium to high saturation. The Masters of Writing inks fill the gaps between the normal every day colors and hues to those unique color combinations that are harder to come by. Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink lives up to this challenge as it\u2019s neither a true brown ink nor\u00a0a true red ink. This unique brown-red color is a truly distinctive made in America handcrafted ink.<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

We used Rhodia bloc paper with a J. Herbin dip glass pen for this review. The French made glass dip pen has a tip that is similar to a fine pointed fountain pen nib.<\/p>\n

Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink comes in a clear plastic simple 55 ml. bottle. The simple bottle has a large lid about the same diameter as the bottle itself. This makes filling a fountain pen much easier. Each bottle comes in a simple cardboard box with a unique and interesting colored label describing the ink inside.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink retails for $16.00, but we have it\u00a0available for only $12.80. This price makes the ink a reasonably priced ink. We would categorize it between an economy and mid range priced ink. Definitely a fair price due to its handmade nature.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

The dry time was approximately 6 seconds while testing Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink with the fine tipped glass dip pen. This is pretty good since this ink is a medium to high-saturated ink.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

We experienced zero bleeding while using this ink, both during normal use and the cotton swab tests.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Our test lines were clear and distinct during normal use with Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink. Even during the water test there was only slight feathering noticed. This particular ink held up better than most non-waterproof inks.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

We conducted a water test where we run a soaking wet cotton swab over a dried ink sample of the\u00a0Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink. This ink held up very well. Although there was some color smearing and slight line distortion, it was not nearly as pronounced as other non-waterproof inks.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

One of the characteristics we have noticed with most Organics Studio inks is their\u00a0shading characteristics. Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink is no different. With the proper pen, nib, paper and hand writing it will produce some wonderful shading characteristics.<\/p>\n

Organics Studio Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red Ink is a unique color that shows up very well due to its good saturation. The ink dries fairly quick, holds up pretty well under water and is an absolutely beautiful brown-red color. The price makes it a reasonable purchase allowing you to experiment with not only Edgar Allen Poe Raven Red, but also other Organics Studio inks.
