Robert Oster River of Fire Ink: Robert Oster\u2019s newest ink, which is number 69 and counting, is called River of Fire. Robert Oster River of Fire ink, not to be confused with the popular and loved Robert Oster Fire & Ice ink<\/a>, is a fabulous green color with sheen characteristics similar to\u00a0Fire & Ice. With 69 colors to choose from, there is a wide variety of your favorite colors all within the world and palette of the Australia.<\/p>\n

Robert Oster River Of Fire Ink Swatch<\/p><\/div>\n

The River of Fire name comes from a local Australian river known by Robert Oster. The color of the ink is a deep dark green-blue color\u00a0with more of a green hue than blue. Robert Oster River of Fire ink is on the color spectrum of an emerald or forest green with a very slight bluish tint. The ink is slightly darker than the fairly recently released Robert Oster Spearmint ink<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Like many Robert Oster fountain pen inks you can experience a reddish sheen with River of Fire. We also found the ink to be very saturated ink, which comes across dark and rich. Every Robert Oster ink color is hand made and sure to please. Now we can\u2019t wait for number 70!<\/p>\n

Please note the following traits we noticed while conducting our review of Robert Oster River of Fire ink:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

Reviewing Robert Oster River of Fire ink we used a J. Herbin Glass Dip Pen on Rhodia Bloc paper. The dip pen has a tip equivalent to a fine type nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster inks<\/a> come in just one size, a no-descript 50 ml. plastic bottle which is equivalent to 1.69 ounces. Although the bottle is non-toxic, environmentally friendly and functional, they are very basic. We would not classify the bottle as display quality like a Pilot Iroshizuku or Pelikan Edelstein ink<\/a> bottle.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster inks, including the new River of Fire ink, retail in the United States for $16.00. We are expecting a price increase next month to $17.00. This places River of Fire in the mid-range priced inks on the market today, which is not bad for this unique Australian imported hand made ink.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

One of the characteristics Robert Oster inks are known for is a fairly quick dry time. Using the glass dip pen, we found that Robert Oster River of Fire ink had a dry time between 6-7 seconds. However, after about 3 seconds the vast majority of color smear was gone. This makes River of Fire ink a good everyday ink option for a dark green color.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

A typical characteristic we have found using Robert Oster inks is that there is very little bleeding during normal use. However, we did notice a slight bleed through during the cotton swab test but only at the swab\u2019s most saturated point on the paper.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster River of Fire ink did not result in any feathering during normal use on Rhodia paper. However, during the water test, we did see some feathering at the wettest points of the test, which is understandable for a non-waterproof ink.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster River of Fire ink is not waterproof and we experienced significant color smearing, feathering and line distortion during the water test we conducted. We ran a cotton swab soaked in water over our\u00a0River of Fire ink sample. Most of the lines remained clear and distinct and only the wettest points produced line distortion, although the entire sample experienced color smearing.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

Most Robert Oster inks produce very nice shading characteristic with the right nib. Robert Oster River of Fire ink is no different and creates dark green to lighter tones with red sheen possible. The color of the River of Fire ink is very unique indeed.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the Robert Oster River of Fire Ink<\/h2>\n

Overall, this newest green color to add to the ever-expanding Robert Oster ink pallet will be a best seller. It is unique, has good overall characteristics, dark, high saturation, shows well on paper, has a reasonable dry time and has that loved red sheen possibility. Although Pen Chalet has just become an authorized Robert Oster ink retailer in 2017, this fantastic ink company is quickly becoming one of the best selling ink brands we carry. River of Fire will not disappoint!<\/p>\n
