Robert Oster Fire & Ice Ink: One of the most popular current Robert Oster ink colors on the market is Fire & Ice. Robert Oster Signature ink, which is manufactured and imported directly from Australia, has 68 ink colors and counting. Each color Robert Oster creates is a creation from its Australian heritage, Robert Oster calls labels, \u201cAustralian Colors for the World\u201d. Robert Oste<\/a>r, located in Southern Australia in the Coonawarra District is becoming a major player in the highly competitive US and world ink market with its fabulous colors and ink characteristics.<\/p>\n

Robert Oster Fire & Ice is a blue color ink, that has its roots in a turquoise based blue color, but is darker than say Lamy Pacific Blue<\/a> and Waterman Obsession Blue ink<\/a> and has a hint of green to the color, making it a dark turquoise with a slight teal color. It is quite beautiful and is a very popular Robert Oster ink color.<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h2>\n

We used a glass dip pen with a fine tip manufactured by J. Herbin Pen Company<\/a> on Rhodia graph paper.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n

Each Robert Oster ink comes in a standard, tall 50 ml. plastic bottle. The color of the ink is represented by the white label on top of the cap\u00a0with the name of the ink along with a small sample of the actual ink inside. Each bottle comes with a standard gold Robert Oster Signature Ink sticker seal on the front of the bottle. Simple and plain, but effective and we love the ink sample on the lid.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster Fire & Ice retails for $17.00 in the United States. This makes Robert Oster ink a low mid range price ink and a good overall value. Robert Oster inks are only available in the US from a select few retailers, including Pen Chalet.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h2>\n

One of the great features of Robert Oster Fire & Ice ink is its quick dry time, which is approximately 4-5 seconds. Not a lightning fast drying ink, but quick enough for everyday use at home, office, journal and note writing.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h2>\n

We did not experience any bleeding using Robert Oster Fire & Ice with the dip pen. However, at the wettest part of the cotton swab test we did experience some\u00a0bleeding.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h2>\n

Robert Oster Fire & Ice ink produces nice distinct, crisp lines without any feathering. Although during the water test, there was some feathering with the cotton swab at its wettest.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h2>\n

We conducted a water test, where we run a wet cotton swab over a dried Robert Oster Fire & Ice ink sample. This produced significant color smearing and some feathering so the Robert Oster Fire & Ice ink is not a waterproof ink.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h2>\n

One feature that is widely discussed about Robert Oster inks, is their inks ability to produce nice shading with most colors. Robert Oster Fire & Ice ink is one of those colors that will produce some wonderful shading characteristics, especially with a larger or stub nib where the writer can adjust the flow of ink. Done right and you can also get some red color along the edges of the ink.<\/p>\n

Robert Oster Fire & Ice is a favorite and for good reason. It\u2019s a beautiful color, quick drying, nice shading, no feathering or bleeding all at a reasonable price.
