Pelikan has now come out with a number of inks, all linked to a color of a &#8220;stone&#8221; in nature. Edelstein Onyx ink is Pelikan&#8217;s version of black ink. Edelstein Onyx ink is a true black ink and is in the category of deep rich\u00a0black inks such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penchalet.com\/blog\/aurora-black-ink-review\/\">Aurora Black<\/a>\u00a0or the\u00a0Noodler&#8217;s Black. The glass dip writing tip is comparable to a medium to broad nib.<\/p>\n<h2>Bottle Sizes<\/h2>\n<p>All <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penchalet.com\/ink_refills\/fountain_pen_ink\/edelstein_bottled_ink.html\">Pelikan Edelstein inks<\/a> comes in a large 50 ml. bottle. Each bottle is a beautiful weighted distinctive shaped bottle\/ink well that has been likened to a work of art.<\/p>\n<h2>Cost<\/h2>\n<p>Pelikan Edelstein Onyx Ink is a luxury ink and retails for $28.00.<\/p>\n<h2>Dry Time<\/h2>\n<p>Using the large dip pen, the dry time was a reasonable 12-15 seconds.<\/p>\n<h2>Bleed Through<\/h2>\n<p>Only two minor bleed spots were noticed when using the large glass dip pen. Normal fountain pen use on good paper such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penchalet.com\/rhodia_notebooks\/\">Rhodia<\/a>, should produce zero bleeding.<\/p>\n<h2>Feathering<\/h2>\n<p>We experienced no feathering at all with the pen and paper we used for this review with Pelikan Edelstein Onyx Ink.<\/p>\n<h2>Water Test<\/h2>\n<p>Running a soaking wet cotton swab over ink samples after letting them dry for 3 minutes produced some smearing, smudging and feathering. Pelikan Edelstein Onyx ink is not a waterproof ink.<\/p>\n<h2>Shading<\/h2>\n<p>Pelikan Edelstein Onyx ink produces zero shading, as its a true dark black opaque ink.<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion about the\u00a0Pelikan Edelstein Onyx ink<\/h2>\n<p>Overall Pelikan Edelstein Onyx ink is a good dark ink, with a beautiful glass display quality bottle and a great dark black ink that can be used everyday.
