We\u00a0just happened to choose\u00a0the number one selling Iroshizuku ink color to review, Kon-Peki. The name itself draws you in to this fabulous blue ink color, which actually has a variety of names depending on who you ask. For your information, this ink is\u00a0known as all or a combination of the following: Pilot Iroshizuku: Kon-Peki, Deep Azure Blue and Cerulean Blue. We will stick with the Japanese name Kon-Peki. The Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki ink is just one of the many color variations that Pilot offers in the ink line. The name Iroshizuku is a combination of two Japanese words meaning colors and droplets, with each color being found in the wide array of the Japanese\u2019s diverse natural world.<\/p>\n

While testing this fountain pen ink<\/a>, we have found the following characteristics, which we hope may be helpful to you:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h3>\n

We used Rhodia<\/a> Block paper with a small tip J. Herbin Glass dip pen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h3>\n

Pilot Iroshizuku inks come in one of the best bottles in the industry. The\u00a050 ml large bottle is a display quality ink pot, heavy weighted glass bottle with a distinctive \u201clast drop\u201d tip at its base. With only Pelikan Edelstein ink bottles comparing in elegance, this bottle is one of the best the ink business has to offer.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h3>\n

As it is notoriously known for, Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki ink is at the top end of all bottle inks, retailing for $35.00 for a 50 ml. bottle. Its display presence, quality, and vibrant color, makes it worthwhile as a luxury ink.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h3>\n

While using the J. Herbin glass dip pen, which is like an extra fine, we experienced an outstanding dry time of about 3 seconds. While using a larger nib you will experience a longer dry time, but regardless its superfast comparing almost to a Noodler\u2019s Eternal ink color.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h3>\n

We experienced zero bleeding, even with the wettest use of a cotton swab.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h3>\n

There is absolutely no feathering under normal use. However, during the water test, there was substantial feathering as this is not a waterproof ink.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h3>\n

The Iroshizuku Kon-Peki ink is not waterproof. When we ran a wet cotton swab over ink samples after letting them dry for over 3 minutes, a distinct bleeding, feathering, and color smear was experienced until the cotton swab used up its wetness.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h3>\n

Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki ink will produce some shading and variations within this vibrant color.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the\u00a0Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki Ink<\/h3>\n

Expensive, but the larger bottle size, extra qualities and characteristics you get when purchasing this Iroshizuku ink, makes up for the increased price. Exceptional packaging and display quality glass bottle, fairly large size, unique \u201clast drop\u201d tip, excellent ink qualities such as the vibrant color, fast drying, easy to clean, superb ink flow and the ability to use this ink with any fountain pen, makes Iroshizuku inks a favorite.
