Sailor Jentle Oku Yama Ink is one of the fairly new 8 Jentle ink colors, replacing the former Sailor Grenade ink color. This is one of the top two new Sailor 4 season Jentle Ink colors. Sailor Oku Yama ink is one of the two Autumn ink colors and means \u201cremote mountain\u201d in Japanese, reflecting the dark red leave late in the autumn season.<\/p>\n

Sailor Oku Yama ink has been one of the top\u00a0selling ink\u00a0of the new four season colors of the Sailor Jentle ink. This water based dye ink is a beautiful dark red or burgundy color fountain pen ink<\/a>. Another autumn color, Yama-Dori, has been the best selling Sailor Jentle four-season ink color and Pen Chalet stocks all 8 of the Sailor four season ink colors. Sailor<\/a> also continues to sell it’s three standard Jentle colors, Black, Blue-Black and Blue and they continue to be well loved fountain pen inks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Sailor<\/a>

Sailor Jentle Oku Yama Ink<\/p><\/div>\n

Sailor Jentle Oku Yama ink has produced the following characteristics when we tested it that you may find helpful:<\/p>\n

Testing Factors<\/h3>\n

We used 8.5 by 11 inch Rhodia Bloc N. 18 paper with a Rohrer & Klingner glass dip pen<\/a>, which is comparable to a medium or broad nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h3>\n

Sailor Jentle Oku Yama ink bottles come in a standard round glass 50 ml. bottle, with a very large opening. The shape of the bottle will allow the user to place the bottle on its side, in order to obtain the last few drops of ink. Likewise, all Sailor Jentle ink bottles come with an internal ink reservoir, which again help promote the use of each drop of ink. Interestingly, Oku Yama is not printed anywhere on the bottle or cardboard box it comes in. All writing is in Japanese other than “Sailor Jentle Ink.”<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h3>\n

Although the standard colors of Sailor Jentle ink<\/a>\u00a0retail for $12.50 in the 50 ml. bottle, the new Sailor Jentle Four-Season ink colors, like Oku Yama, retail for $18.00.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h3>\n

Using the Rohrer & Klingner dip pen(with approximately a medium to broad nib) produced a dry time of about 12 seconds. However, using an extra fine J. Herbin Glass Dip Pen, the dry time was approximately 5 seconds.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h3>\n

Using the medium\/broad nib and the cotton swab produced a small bit a bleeding on the Rhodia paper used, but very little.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h3>\n

There was no perceptible feathering using Sailor Jentle Oku Yama ink.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h3>\n

This ink definitely is not waterproof. When we ran a wet cotton swab over the ink, after letting it dry for about 3 minutes, lots of smearing, feathering and running resulted.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h3>\n

One of the best characteristics of this Sailor Jentle Oku Yama ink is its shading. Some lines when first dipped were a super dark burgundy, which changed as the ink was depleted to a light almost pink based red color. Those using a music, calligraphy or stub nib should experience some fantastic shading characteristics.<\/p>\n

Conclusion about the Sailor Jentle Oku Yama Ink<\/h3>\n

Sailor produces some great ink colors and have been well loved by pen lovers for many years. Many customers complained when Sailor discontinued the old Jentle ink colors, but Sailor has merely re-branded these inks into their 8 Jentle Four Seasons collection, which are fantastic.
