Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine Ink is Pelikan\u2019s 2016 ink of the year color. This blue, green, turquoise color is definitely a unique addition to the Pelikan Edelstein ink<\/a> collection. Edelstein, which means \u201cstone\u201d in German, produces one new ink color each year, each of which is a limited run. Last year\u2019s Pelikan Edelstein ink of the year<\/a>, Amethyst, was a surefire hit, as has been the Aquamarine this year. This ink, which is in the turquoise color family, is not a true turquoise as it has a distinct deep blue\/green tint.<\/p>\n

Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine Ink<\/p><\/div>\n

Testing Factors<\/h3>\n

A J. Herbin Glass dip pen<\/a>, was used on Rhodia<\/a> Block N. 18 paper for this ink review. The glass dip writing tip is comparable to a extra fine nib.<\/p>\n

Bottle Sizes<\/h3>\n

The Edelstein Aquamarine ink comes in a large 50 ml. bottle. The bottle itself, as are all Edelstein ink bottles, is a work of art. The heavy weighted bottle, which is beautiful enough to serve as an ink well, is distinctive and functional, with its slightly indented smooth sides. The bottle can lay on its ends to sneak each drop of ink out when low.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h3>\n

The Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine ink is a high-end ink, retailing for $31.80, but worth the cost.<\/p>\n

Dry Time<\/h3>\n

Using the J. Herbin Glass dip pen, the dry time was a reasonable 4-5 seconds. There was no smudging after the ink was dry.<\/p>\n

Bleed Through<\/h3>\n

No bleed through on the Rhodia Bloc N. 18 paper at all, even with the 3 brushes of the ink with a cotton swab.<\/p>\n

Feathering<\/h3>\n

Again, using the glass dip pen and and Rhodia paper we\u00a0did not detect any feathering. The Edelstein Aquamarine ink produced nice clean lines.<\/p>\n

Water Test<\/h3>\n

Rubbing a completely wet cotton swab over the ink marks, after a 3 minute dry time, caused the ink to feather someone and produced a slight color distortion.<\/p>\n

Shading<\/h3>\n

The Edelstein Aquamarine ink seems to produce some shading, although not nearly like the Pelikan Edestein Amethyst ink from last year, which has a lot of shading characteristic.<\/p>\n

Final Thoughts on the\u00a0Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine Ink<\/h3>\n

Those that love Pelikan Edelstein ink will love this new color, which is unlike anything Pelikan has previously produced. The cost is a little high, but for inks such as Pelikan Edelstein and Namiki Iroshizuku ink<\/a>, pen lovers will expect the high price, but also the high quality ink.
