We noticed the following characteristics while reviewing Robert Oster Tangerine ink that you may find useful:

Testing Factors

We used a glass dip pen, made by French company J. Herbin on Rhodia Bloc paper for this review. The tip on the glass dip pen is equivalent to an fine nib.

Bottle Sizes

Robert Oster Tangerine ink comes in a basic dark plastic 50 ml. bottle so you are not paying a more money for an expensive bottle with Robert Oster inks. Although the presentation is not as nice as say Pilot Iroshizuku ink or Pelikan’s Edelstein ink, the bottle is functional. The lid of the plastic bottle contains a white label with the name of the ink along with a blot of the actual ink which is fantastic.

Cost

Robert Oster Tangerine ink retails for $16.00 for a 50 ml. plastic bottle, although the price is slated to increase to $17.00 in the near future. This makes Robert Oster Tangerine ink a reasonably priced imported ink from Australia, which is low enough to be able to pick up multiple bottles for the price of just one Edelstein, Iroshizuku or other luxury bottle of ink.

Dry Time

We found a quick dry time, approximately 5-6 seconds, using the glass dip pen on Rhodia paper using Robert Oster Tangerine ink, although there was only a slight ink smear at the 3 second mark.

Bleed Through

We have not experienced any bleeding using Robert Oster Tangerine ink during our review with Rhodia paper. There was not even any bleeding during the cotton swab test.

Feathering

Robert Oster Tangerine ink produced no feathering on Rhodia paper during normal use with the glass dip pen. However, during the water test we did see significant feathering at the wettest points.

Water Test

During the water test, where we ran a wet cotton swab over a dried Robert Oster Tangerine ink sample, we experienced some color distortion and significant feathering at the wettest points. Most of the lines remained clear and distinct. Although Robert Oster Tangerine ink is not waterproof, it held up ok for a non-waterproof ink.

Shading

Robert Oster Tangerine ink produces some nice shading, as do most Robert Oster ink colors. The dark orange with a tinge of red to the light orange will come out depending on the nib sized used and pressure applied.

Conclusion about the Robert Oster Tangerine ink

Overall, Robert Oster Tangerine ink is a nice orange color, dark enough to be used for many purposes, including letter writing, journals, note taking, etc. It has a good dry time, no bleeding and beautiful shading characteristics. If you are looking for an orange colored ink, you probably wont be disappointed purchasing Robert Oster Tangerine.

This color looks rather nice, actually. A muted orange with a slight brown undertone.

I don’t have any orange inks so this would be awesome to win. Plus I have heard great things about Oster inks but have yet to try them.
