Read today’s Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening ink review and find out more about this special release from one of our best-selling Korean ink makers.

All About the Ink Maker: Colorverse

Colorverse is a well known (and much loved) Korean ink company that creates high quality, vivid ink colors. The Colorverse ink formula has a reputation for offering exceptional solubility and a smooth writing experience. Since Colorverse inks are made using natural pigments and dyes, they are both clean and safe for use with fountain pens. The highly respected ink maker has a wide variety of fantastic colors and often presents them under unique “umbrellas” or themes. For instance, many of their ink series are formed around spaced themes. As an Authorized Dealer of Colorverse fountain pen inks, Pen Chalet has a wide variety of inks for those looking to add a new Colorverse ink to their fountain pen ink collection. This week’s featured ink, Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening ink, is a special release dedicated to the many lives changed by the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.

All About This Week’s Chosen Ink: Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening Covid-19 Memorial Ink

The Colorverse Rising Reflections ink is a memorial ink dedicated to all those whose lives were changed for the Covid-19 pandemic. The special release was also the official ink of the 2021 D.C. Pen Show, and shows the reflection pool at the Washington Monument in D.C. lined with lights representing those lost to the pandemic on the packaging and the bottle label. Proceeds from the sale of Colorverse Rising Reflections Covid-19 Memorial ink are donated by the company to the Salvation Army Covid-19 relief efforts. Rising Reflections ink is a beautiful yellow-gold glistening color that shows up well on paper with medium saturation. We’d recommend this ink as being a great choice for special projects, notes or journaling. We like that instead of overpowering the ink, the glistening attribute is fairly subtle. The silver glistening particles complement the yellow-gold color very well. ***Looking for the giveaway that usually accompanies our weekly ink reviews? It’s Time: Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening Ink Review

For this Coloverse Rising Reflections Glistening ink review, we put the featured ink through our standard ink review tests, so you could get a better idea of how it might suit your writing style and your current ink collection.
Colorverse Rising Reflections glistening ink review results

Read the results from today’s ink review featuring Colorverse’s special Covid-19 memorial ink release, the Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening fountain pen ink.

Ink Review Testing Factors (to keep things scientific):

As usual, we used a  J. Herbin spiral glass dip pen (with a tip comparable to a medium-fine fountain pen nib) on Rhodia dot pad paper. (Remember as you read this review that different papers or different nib sizes may produce different results!)

What Sort of Ink Bottle Does Colorverse Use?

Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening ink comes in the new 30ml standard Colorverse bottle (used to bottle their 30ml ink series). The bottle is oval-shaped with a flat front where you’ll find the nice and clear sticker label indicating the ink color. The new bottle also has a nice, wide mouthed opening for easy filling. Overall, the packing for the Rising Reflections ink is tastefully done -particularly with respect to those who have and continue to suffer from the pandemic.

How Much Does Rising Reflections Ink Cost?

Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening ink falls in the mid-range price for the 30ml ink bottle size. Look for the best prices at PenChalet.com.

How Did This Week’s Ink Fair in the 1-Dip Test?

We use the 1-dip test to see how far one dip can write on paper (dipping the pen into the ink only once). Rising Reflections ink very easily wrote across the paper on all three writing samples. (Using only one dip per writing sample “S” “X” and scribble lines, see the image above). However, there was very little ink to spare.

How Fast Does Rising Reflections Ink Dry?

During our ink review, Rising Reflections fountain pen ink showed a dry time of approximately 4-5 seconds with medium saturation; which is very impressive for a glistening ink. (And just to be clear, by impressive, we mean quick. Glistening inks generally require longer drying times, but apparently not in this case).

Does This Week’s Fountain Pen Ink Bleed Through?

We saw no bleeding during normal use on Rhodia dot pad paper. There was also no bleeding during the heavy saturated cotton swab test.

Was There Any Feathering During the Rising Reflections Glistening Ink Review?

We saw no feathering during normal use, but we did see some very slight feathering during the water test (expected with a non-waterproof ink).

How Does the Ink Stand Up to Water?

Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening ink is not meant to be waterproof, but we like to put all our inks through a water test to see how well (or not) they withstand exposure to water. For the water test we let our ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before we run a wet cotton swab over the sample to observe the effect. Here are the results we saw during our Rising Reflections ink review water test:
  • Light color smearing
  • Lines still very clear and legible (only very slight distortion)

Does Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening Ink Have Good Shading Traits?

There is some slight possible shading, but you would need a nib that allows ink flow variation like a stub or italic. We saw a nice subtle silver shimmering effect and also enjoyed an unintended dark sheen during the heaave cotton swab test.

Final Conclusion on Colorverse Rising Reflections Glistening Ink:

Today’s featured ink is a mid-range priced ink (for the 30ml bottle size) made by a well-regarded Korean company, Colorverse. The beautiful yellow-gold color features silver glistening particles for a great subtle shimmer that also comes with a great dry time for a glistening ink (only 4-5 seconds). We think this ink is a beautiful choice for journaling, notetaking, or many other special projects as it has that quick dry time and shows up well on paper with medium saturation. The ink is easy to use (especially with a drop pen or brush pen), but you may also enjoy better application with a larger fountain pen nib. We recommend that you clean your pen periodically (usually every week or so) to avoid unwanted clogging of the nib or feed, but that’s the same recommendation we offer alongisde any high sheen or shimmering ink. If you don’t yet have a good cleaning solution for use with fountain pens and shimmering or glistening inks, you should consider Pen Chalet’s Pen Flush. We think this week’s special release ink is a nice and respectful way to tribute those who lost so much during the Covid-19 pandemic. We hope you enjoyed this week’s ink review. Respectfully from Korea!
