Anyone who buys a Noodler's pen knows that it's obligatory to tinker with it to get good writing performance. I bought the brown ripple Boston Safety pen. It had a very dry ink flow and railroaded with minimal flexing of the nib. I took the nib and feed out to clean off any residual oils with toothpaste, and alcohol. I noted that the feed in my pen had the ink slits cut off the center axis. There was a very deep cut near the tip which caused a little hole through the thin part of the feed. Clearly, the original feed was garbage.
Thus, I bought a replacement feed. I couldn't find any other place but Pen Chalet who sells these feeds. After washing the new feed, and setting in a NOS 14K gold flexible "Warranted" vintage nib - WOW!
The nib is a wet noodle, and this new feed can keep up with the ink demands of even the greatest tine spread (2mm width- I didn't want to push it too far). What was once a regretful purchase is now a treasured great writing pen.
