    Stipula Speed Video Script

This is the Stipula Speed Fountain Pen. It comes in a red cardboard box. We have the Stipula logo embossed in gold on the top of the box lid which slides off, and this is the orange version of the Stipula Speed Fountain Pen. It has chrome accents throughout the pen. At the bottom of the barrel we have a small chrome knob used to actuate the piston filler on the pen.

On the barrel of the pen is a small Stipula leaf. It's actually raised off the barrel, and you can see this swirl or S-shape pattern that runs between the cap and the barrel of the pen. And it has a chrome colored clip with the Stipula S at the top and a bullet-shaped end on the top of the cap. The cap snaps off, and on this particular pen you cannot post the cap. It just really doesn't stay on real well. It's not really made to be posted.

So it is a little bit of a smaller sized pen when you use it. The grip section actually has a little bit of a chrome colored dull matte finish. It has some vertical lines to give you some grip on the pen, and you can see that chrome colored nib with the Stipula leaf and the Stipula logo etched on it.

To fill the pen, this is a piston style pen so you turn the knob at the end of the barrel, and that allows you to move that piston on the inside of the pen to pull the ink or draw the ink through the nib into the center chamber inside the pen.

It's a really unique pen. I like the way the pen looks and feels. It's a great pen for the value. Get your Stipula Speed Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!

This is the Stipula Speed Fountain Pen. It comes in a red cardboard box. On the top of the box we have the Stipula logo embossed in gold. The outer shell of this cardboard box simply slides off.

Inside we have the Stipula Speed fountain pen. This is the red version of the pen which comes with gold accents throughout. On the bottom of the barrel is a gold cap. It comes with a small Stipula leaf here on the side of the pen. Then on the cap we have a gold clip with the Stipula "S" and on the side of the clip is etched Italy.

The cap on this pen is held on with magnets. You simply pull the cap to remove it. Now this pen cannot be posted. It really doesn't stay on the end of the pen so you have to write without the cap on which makes the pen a little bit small in my hands. It is a little bit smaller pen.

It is a piston filler pen. You simply put the nib in the ink bottle and you twist clockwise on this gold cap in the end of the pen or the barrel and that draws the ink into the chamber of the pen.

Stipula is an Italian company. They make some great writing instruments. The Stipula Speed has been pretty popular in the ballpoint pen. The fountain pen is not different. This is a great product. Get yours today at PenChalet.com!

Writes smoothly but fairly dry. Filling method is poor. Gave this one away.

Loved the design for such a compact pen and I really wanted to love this pen as an everyday writer, but after 2 weeks I noticed the pen was leaking, and badly. Apparently the converter mechanism inside is cracked. Definitely not thrilled.

I've heard of problems with these pens, but I am just loving mine. The stub nib is narrow as stubs go, but terrific for folks with smaller writing who would still like to have the stylish, slightly calligraphic look a stub nib imparts to handwriting. It hold lots of ink, has a medium flow, and writes smoothly for me. The cap closes with a satisfying magnetic click, but does not post (I never post anyway, but for those who do this may be a drawback). Little cons include difficulty getting the ink out of the ribbing on the barrel after filling, and the tiny silver (plastic) Stipula leaf insignia falling off (I will attempt a super-glue repair on this). Overall, I really enjoy the pen and will continue to keep it in frequent rotation.

    Best italic nib ever.
Rest of pen totally dysfunctional which I am sure is why it is no longer made.

Big, elegant pen, the Speed reminds me of a Star Wars Federation trooper. But lately, nearly everything resembles Federation troopers. One difference, though, is that the Speed doesn't miss. The section is long enough not to be uncomfortable, it's straightforward in filling, operating, cleaning, and it looks good.

My first Stipula - I love this pen, I purchased in orange just for the italic nib (only one available). I must say I am impressed with how smooth it writes and love the size of the nib. It is hard to find an italic in the .7-.9 mm range. For the price it's a winner.

    FAQs about the Stipula Speed

    Q:
What quantity of ink does the pen hold? eg. 1ml, 2ml, etc.
Asked on Aug 13 2016 by Vic
    A:
The Stipula Speed fountain pen will hold about the same amount of ink as a small converter, probably between .5ml to .7ml of fountain pen ink.
    Q:
How on earth do you clean this pen properly and completely? Does the nib section come out?
Asked on Oct 20 2014 by Nancy
    A:
The nib section does not come out. To clean the Stipula Speed fountain pen you will have to flush the pen with water using the piston fill mechanism. You can also soak the nib in water.
    Q:
In the video you say "it has also a converter that's inside the pen" and I'd like a little clarification on what this means. Is it a captive converter (i.e. a converter that's glued in place), or is it a converter that can be taken out, or is it a true piston-fill (i.e. the piston mechanism is fully integrated into the pen)? I've only seen it described as a piston-fill, but your description makes it sound like a captive converter. It's very confusing.
Asked on Jun 2 2014 by Silvia
    A:
It is fully integrated. The Stipula Speed fountain pen cannot use any cartridges or other converters. It must use bottled ink.
    Q:
I'm very interested in this pen. What are the dimensions? If you don't have specific dimensions even rough ones would be helpful. Is is the size of the Passporto or is it larger?
Asked on Jan 22 2014 by Dale C. Roe
    A:
The Stipula Speed fountain pen pen is 5-3/8 inches long when capped, 4-3/4 inches with cap off and 5/8 inches in diameter. (It was not designed to be posted)

So it's a regular full-size pen. Not a mini like Passaporto.
