Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day ink is part of the newest series of ink from Colorverse. The ink company recently introduced their 6th season, Joy in the Ordinary. If you’ve been intrigued by the Joy in the Ordinary series (as you should be), this is your lucky day because we’re going to be giving you all the details about one of the inks in this popular, new Colorverse ink series right here! Additionally, we’ll even let you enter to win the bottle of ink used for this week’s fountain pen ink review!

All About the Ink Maker: Colorverse

Colorverse manufactures all 80+ of their ink colors in Korea. When describing the highly respected ink company as prolific, we aren’t exaggerating. All About the Ink Series: Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary

This week’s featured ink is from an ink series named after the ordinary, everyday moments that bring joy! The Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary inks are single bottles, not double bottle packages like other Colorverse series of inks (examples above). Most noteworthy, Colorverse’s Joy in the Ordinary ink series colors reflect experiences from day-to-day life:

Brunch Date

Coffee Break

Delicious Sleep

Under the Shade

Walk the Dog

Rainy Day

Pen Chalet carries a full range of Colorverse inks. So to learn more about the different inks currently available from Colorverse, check the inventory at Pen Chalet.

It’s Time: Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink Review

For this week’s ink review, we had some fun with Colorverse Rainy Day fountain pen ink. We ran it through all the tests to find the different characteristics and traits that fountain pen lovers need to know when choosing their new favorite ink! All in all, iff you are considering adding Colorverse Rainy Day ink to your collection, you should get all the details here first, so you know what to expect!

Ink Review Testing Factors (to keep things scientific):

We like to offer a fair representation of the fountain pen inks we review, so we’ll always include a section identifying other products used during the review alongside the week’s featured ink. Think of our paper and pen as the “controls” in our review/experiment. For instance, while reviewing Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day fountain pen ink, we used a J Herbin spiral glass dip pen (with a tip similar to a fine-medium fountain pen nib) on Rhodia dot pad paper.

The results we discuss below came while using the ink with the pen/paper described. Just to clarify, different papers and nib sizes may produce different results!

What Sort of Ink Bottle Does Colorverse Use?

Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day is a bottled fountain pen ink that comes in a single 30 ml. oval-shaped bottle with a flat front. The Joy in the Ordinary inks stand out in the Colorverse lineup. First of all, the inks from the company’s other series come in different bottles (both size and shape). Also, Colorverse frequently sells “pairs” of ink bottles, but the Joy in the Ordinary inks are single bottles. Finally, the Colorverse packaging is quality and includes lovely, unique artwork and stickers. And we all love a little bit of ink swag.

How Much Does Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink Cost?

Colorverse Rainy Day ink is an economical fountain pen ink with pricing lower than other, comparable, inks on the market. Even more exciting, you can find discounted pricing at Pen Chalet.

How Fast Does Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink Dry?

Colorverse Rainy Day fountain pen ink had a dry time of approximately 7-8 seconds. Since we consider any dry time under 10 seconds to be reasonably quick, and appropriate for daily use, we would recommend Rainy Day as an everyday ink.

Does Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink Bleed Through?

During normal use of Rainy Day fountain pen ink, we saw no bleeding. There was a bit of slight bleeding during the heavy saturated cotton swab test, however it was only at the wettest points and it was minimal.

Was There Any Feathering While Using Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink?

During normal use, we saw no feathering. Similarly, we saw ALMOST no feathering during the water test.

How Does Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink Stand Up to Water?

This week’s ink is not a waterproof fountain pen ink. However, we always include a water test in the review. (For the water test, we let an ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before running a wet cotton swab over the sample). Consequently, after putting Colorverse Rainy Day ink to the water test, we can comfortably say that while it is not waterproof, it IS almost waterproof. We saw very slight, almost imperceptible color smearing. However, the lines were still completely legible and there was nearly no additional feathering at all. In conclusion, Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day fountain pen ink holds up well to water.

Does Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink Have Good Shading Traits?

We saw some excellent shading traits while reviewing Colorverse Rainy Day ink. However, you would need to have a nib that allows ink flow variation like a stub or italic nib to take advantage of this characteristic. You can see a lighter muted gray-blue to a darker blue-gray shade and a few shades in between.

Final Conclusion on Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary Rainy Day Ink:

Fountain pen enthusiasts looking for an economical ink will like the price for this high-quality ink from new kid on the “ink” block, Colorverse. While this Korean ink company hasn’t been around a very long time, they’ve made a name for themselves, Similarly, Colorverse built a solid reputation in the time they have been on the market with fountain pen enthusiasts everywhere trusting their inks to perform. Above all, it’s a really good choice for anyone looking for an ink that really reflects that rainy day mood we all know and love (and hate).

We like the single bottle option with the Colorverse Joy in the Ordinary series. We also appreciated the gentle, soft, muted blue-gray color of Rainy Day fountain pen ink. The dry time was very reasonable, Rainy Day fountain pen ink and other inks in the Joy in the Ordinary series by Colorverse are high performance, easy to use, and easy to clean. Additionally, we recommend checking out the other six color options in Colorverse’s 6th Season: Joy in the Ordinary ink series. On top of all the other fantastic characteristics and benefits, the Joy in the Ordinary ink series is bound to serve as a reminder to enjoy the little moments. Happy Writing from Korea!
